I'm gonna start this tonight!

Formidable (view spoiler)[ I barely remember that Marie had killed the president. I enjoyed being able to learn more about Scythe Marie Curry, and she is still a favorite character of mine. I wouldn't cross her, though. (hide spoiler)]

I was just rereading the summary of Scythe and was reminded of that part, so that made reading that story perfect timing.

Never Work With Animals
(view spoiler)[When reading Marie's story, she mentioned pets can be revived too, which made me wonder how their population was handled. But the cost of revival getting higher each time makes sense. That does make me wonder; why can't they just do the same for people, rather than having to have scythes? Maybe it would be unfair for rich vs. poor people. But they could also just set a max amount of age you can be before you have to die - that'd be a much simpler solution compared to gleaning. And people get to know how much time they have left too.

Anyway, this story was super fascinating and very satisfying. I hated Fields from the moment he decided to kill those owners to take their dog, and I knew something was special about the dog. The story's got that eerie/almost horror-like quality to it and a really satisfying ending. I also didn't expect to see Rowan there! So that was a nice surprise. A really good story, I'm impressed with this one and glad we learn how pets are treated in this society. (hide spoiler)]

A Martian Minute

(view spoiler)[I was looking forward to Goddard's origin story, and wow, he did something that was genuinely terrible. I did feel bad for him at the beginning, but he actually just wiped out an entire population like that... and he came to enjoy it. That's so crazy. I guess we know now we can blame Xenocrates for all of it and making him the murderer that he is. (hide spoiler)]

I finished, but the other stories are just okay for me. Meet Cute and Die was pretty good. The dreaming one was a bit boring. I don't know how to feel about Ben's story, it feels like it was a half-hearted attempt at romance. I was hoping for more interesting tales, but it wasn't bad, I suppose.
