Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 496 comments Sorry to post this publicly, but I was unable to send a private message to moderators.

A couple of threads have gotten quite long and occasionally "wonky" ... usually noticed as a VERY long time to load sometimes resulting in a "your request took too long" error message.

It's been known for years that GR wasn't really set up for extremely long threads. And in the (now-defunct) Feedback Group some years back the recommendation was made to lock older long threads (500+ posts) and start news ones to make it easier on the server.

Both the Welcomes and Introductions and What are You Reading threads are over 1,000 posts; "what are you reading" is over 5,000 posts.

Would the moderators consider closing / locking the existing threads and staring new ones?

Cathrine ☯️ | 1183 comments I had read that about long threads. As a moderator in one group, we had a recently cleaned up chat thread with over 50,000 posts and never noticed an issue. What I have noticed is that GR itself has been "wonky" lately.

Agreed, GR has been extremely ''wonky'' of late. I'll see what we can do about the long threads.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 109 comments Why do you have threads for initial and final impressions? That's confusing. When does one get an initial impression? After the first chapter, the sixth chapter? Why not discuss the book after everyone has read it?

We do this so that people who are still reading the book can safely read other people's comments without having their enjoyment of the book ruined by spoilers. Once you have finished the book you can post any comments in the final impressions section.
