Which fantasy or future world would you like to live in? Why?

I’m sure I’m being influenced by the fact that we just repeat this series, but Earthsea at the end of The Other Wind seems like it would be OK. However, the lack of modern amenities might deter me.

Maybe in the Culture—in a setting without war. Yes, that sounds good.

I'd like to live in Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar. I don't think I'm quite selfless enough to be a Herald - telepathic horse companion notwithstanding - but I like the idealistic outlook of the Kingdom.

Random (rand0m1s) | 1249 comments I had to really think on this one. Nothing immediately stood out as somewhere I would like to live.

And then it hit me on my way home this evening.

I'd like to live in the House from Piranèse

Yes life could be harsh, but I think there is a part of me that would like to be there anyway. Maybe if I could get in supplies periodically . . . even if I couldn't remember how they came to be. :)

Ann-Marie | 19 comments I would love to live on Marsyas Island in The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune, one of my all time favorite books, like a hug in book format. All of the characters are just wonderful and I would love to see how Chauncey does as a bellhop <3

Ooh, good call. That House is SO fascinating. Lonely, though.

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 388 comments Maybe The Shire, of Middle-Earth? I've not read the series so I don't know, but in The Hobbit it seemed cozy and peaceful.
