DC vs. Marvel Challenge

Just like our Disney vs. Pixar movie challenge, which happened last year, we decided to do the 'March Madness Bracket' challenge again but with the oh so lovely superheroes.

Even though it's April, and not March, we are welcoming you to the DC vs. Marvel challenge! These will be based on the movies that are from those cinematic universes.

One side of the bracket will only have DC movie categories and the other side will only contain Marvel movie categories. At the beginning of this challenge, we will start with 16 movies on each side.

That being said, a lot is going to be happening during this challenge. In the beginning, you can read for any movie’s category. So for the first week you have about 32 movies to spread your books throughout. Each movie will have about 6 tasks within it. However, you don’t have all of the categories throughout the challenge.

At the end of each week, movies will be eliminated. This will be based off of points per movie on each side. How would that look?

For example,
- The first week would be 4/1/21 - 4/6/21. So on the 7th, movie’s will drop from 16 on each side to 8 on each side.
- The second week would be 4/7/21 - 4/12/21. So on the 13th, movie’s will drop from 8 on each side to 4 on each side.
- The third week would be 4/13/21 - 4/18/21. So on the 19th, movie’s will drop from 4 on each side to 2 on each side.
- The fourth week would be 4/19/21 - 4/24/21. So on the 25th, movies will drop from 2 on each side to 1 on each side.
- Then for the last three days, 4/25/21 - 4/30/21, we will ONLY focus on the last two movies available. Meaning it will be a 1v1, DC vs Marvel, ultimate movie battle.

So if a movie vs. movie looked like -



at the end of the week - then Aquaman would be available to read for the next week. Constantine would be knocked out of the challenge and the tasks are no longer readable.

What if the movies have a tie at the end of the week?

Well if a movie vs. movie looked like -



at the end of the week - then I would roll the dice (or flip a coin) to see which movie would move to the next round. For this example, Constantine won and has moved on to the next round. Aquaman tasks are no longer readable.

Constantine:
- Published in February (in any year)

- Features demons
- Gun on cover
- Read a book from the Hunting Books list


Birds of Prey:
- Features a break up
- Tagged 'Crime'
- Published in 2020 (any month)
- MC gets a haircut
- Features female POV's ONLY
- Read a book from the Birds of Prey list


The Dark Knight:
- MC is a millionaire
- Features a death
- Features a detective
- Tagged 'Mystery'
- Letters B,A,T,M,A,N in title (in any order)
- Read a book from the Most Popular Books Published in 2008 list


Catwoman:
- Features a pet
- MC is a gymnast
- MPG Sports
- 'Meow' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Letters S,E,L,I,N,A in title (in any order)
- Read a book from the Best Fiction Cat Books list


Green Lantern:
- Author's initials in RING
- 'Lantern' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Letters L,I,G,H,T in series title (in any order)
- Ring on cover
- MC's first name is only 3 letters long (ex: Hal)
- Read a book from the Mask on cover list


Joker:
- MC's first/last name starts with J
- Title is only 5 letters
- 'Clown' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Features an alter-ego
- Published in April (any year)
- Read a book from the Psychological Thrillers/Mystery list


Supergirl:
- Features cousins
- Set in the 50's
- Author's initials in KARA
- Published in July (any year)
- 'Earth' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Read a book from the Adventure Books list


Justice League:
- 'Justice' in text (pg/% & quote)
- Letters L,E,A,G,U,E in series title (in any order)
- Features at least 3 parents (ex: 3 moms, 3 dads, 2 moms and 1 dad, etc.)
- Author's initials in MOTHER
- Cover has 5 people
- Read a book from the Epic Battles Books list


Watchmen:
- Published in 2009 (any month)
- Blue cover (75%)
- Letters W,A,T,C,H,M,E,N in title (in any order)

- MC was adopted
- Set on a farm

This will be a team reading challenge, which will run from April 1st to April 30th. Winners will be announced on May 1st.

Teams will be split as evenly as possible. If you would like to be on the same team with anyone, please comment with who when signing up. Please make sure that they also sign up.

When signing up, please mention the number of books you plan on reading for the month of April. These numbers will be easier for me to make teams match up evenly.
