And that completes my GR challenge goal of 40 (although one was a novella, I guess the 600 pager balances it out.) I intentionally set it low so I wouldn't be stressed out about it, but I guess it's time to tweak.

Congratulations, Marysia!!

I always start our small in my GR challenge. I figure I can read at least a book a week (52) and then I round up to 60 -- though thinking about it, I should round down for 2 weeks vacation! I tweak it up if I get to 60 when entering books.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

PamG (lynguy1) | 977 comments Here is my 4.34 rounded to 4 stars review of The Burning by Linda Castillo:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Crime Thriller / Police Procedural
Darker than usual - The novel is graphic in places and the murder descriptions are brutal at times.
Excellent Characterization, Briskly Paced, Suspenseful, Gripping

The Burning (Kate Burkholder, #16) by Linda Castillo

Alice | 3840 comments I finished A Girl Called Samson A Girl Called Samson by Amy Harmon by Amy Harmon. I enjoyed it very much. A lot of book was set in Massachusetts near were I grew up and of ancestors are mentioned in the book. I didn't like the romance in last third of book. It was not accurate.

PamG (lynguy1) | 977 comments Here is my 2.8 rounded to 3 stars review of The Book of Elsewhere by Keanu Reeves and China Miéville:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Military Thriller / Science Fiction
This one didn't quite work for me. Stylistically different, the writing style felt uneven and unfocused at times which adversely affected the flow. It's also non-linear.
Despite this, it has a great premise and is thought-provoking.
This may appeal more to those familiar with the world of the BRZRKR comic books.

The Book of Elsewhere by Keanu Reeves

PamG (lynguy1) | 977 comments Here is my 3.15 rounded to 3 stars review of One of the Boys by Jayne Cowie

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Dystopian Near-Future Britain
Mystery
Science Fiction

Provocative, Intriguing, and Disturbing
However, the twists were relatively easy to see coming.
The Story is told from 4 different points of view that goes backwards and forwards in time and adversely affects the pacing for me.

One of the Boys by Jayne Cowie
