Have just finished Sweet Thursday by John Steinbeck, the sequel to Cannery Row, which I read last year. I enjoyed revisiting this group of misfits as well as the happy ending.

Also recently read:

* A New Keeper by J.C. Gilbert, YA fantasy.

* Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard, a play featuring two minor characters from Hamlet.

* Murder in the Mews by Agatha Christie, a collection of four short stories.

PamG (lynguy1) | 977 comments Here is my 3.35 rounded to 3 stars review of Please Don't Lie by Christina Baker Kline & Anne Burt:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Psychological thriller / Domestic Suspense
Great worldbuilding
Lacked action and suspense except at the beginning and the end. Great prologue, then slow for a long time before the book picked up again.
Not really a thriller for me for most of the book, but still entertaining.
Please Don't Lie (Crystal River Book 1) by Christina Baker Kline

For me, this book was right on the line between cozy and traditional. Others might consider it a cozy. Either way, I'm glad I read it.

message 1680: by Christy (new)

Christy | 35 comments I read The God of the Woods5]. That book was heartbreaking, the selfishness of rich people and how it impacts others is pretty much the theme of the book.

I'm reading Cathedral of Bones An Ela of Salisbury Medieval Mystery (Ela of Salisbury Medieval Mysteries) by J.G. Lewis Cathedral of Bones: An Ela of Salisbury Medieval Mystery now which I don't think fits into the cozy genre

Enjoying it. I just feel like I don't trust Julius, he's just TOO convenient and too nice...that I'm like....this is fishy! They're sharing FAR too much with him.

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Legal / Crime Thriller
2nd book in the Vegas Shadows series
Well-crafterd plot, great characterization, suspenseful

I didn't like the ending. The case is solved, but there's a major situation that is left up in the air. Otherwise, this would have been a 5-star read for me.
