True Crime
Heartbreaking novel. Unfortunately the writing style didn't appeal to me. However, this is an outlier opinion.

Paranormal Romantic Suspense
A legend, a protector of her tribe, and a 2000-year-old warrior are combined with suspense, action, and romance. It was entertaining and has great characterization.

Mystery
Overall, this was an engaging storyline with wonderful characters and multiple mysteries to solve. It struck the right chord for me.

Historical fiction
Danger, intrigue, the Olympics, and a possible romance take center stage in this novel. The plot is twisty and the story kept me captivated despite a few slow spots. The historical references to events during the Olympics added a significant layer of interest and realism to the plot.
Finished a reread of Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne for the Classics group. I enjoyed my return visit to Pooh Corner and the Hundred Acre Wood.

Crime Thriller / Police Procedural
Overall, this book was suspenseful, riveting, fast-paced, and thought-provoking. This is heartbreaking and tough to read at times and has many trigger warnings. However, it was also well-written, memorable, and thought-provoking.

Urban Fantasy
Overall, this novel was engaging and entertaining with a vivid fantasy environment. The plot is layered and has plenty of twists and turns combined with suspense, tension, and action. It is more polished and the pacing is better than book one of the series.

It's kind of quirky, and you're right. It's a lot of fun.

Alternative History with a Murder Mystery
Descriptive narrative
Suspenseful moments along with moments that seemed to drag
Twisty plot
Entertaining, but antagonist was too easy to identify
Finished ParaNorman by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel, a middle grade paranormal fantasy/horror. Did not see he twist coming.

Fantasy Romance
Great World-building
Good characterization
A couple of steamy scenes starting with the mid-point of the book
Somewhat uneven pacing
Instant physical attraction
Listened to an audio recording of The Loved One by Evelyn Waugh yesterday. It’s a novella of about 127 pages or 3-1/2 hours of listening. The second book this week in which I did not see the twist coming. This was one of the classic group’s October selections and I found a free Audible recording on YouTube. Excellent narrator.

The cross between science fiction and mystery worked well. What a great first sentence! However, the book quickly goes back and forth in time without notice causing one to feel unsettled and disrupting the flow and pacing. These instances are also from different points of view and only slowly reveal what has happened in the past. Despite this, the plot was interesting and complex. Overall, this novel was entertaining and had great world-building.
