Tag Wedgewood | 2 comments Thank goodness for this group.
Noticed on Goodreads recommendations that all of the books (ok, I did not actually look at them all... but enough to get this impression) recommended are from New York Times best sellers or previously successful traditional published authors. That's fine but am I missing something. Where are the recommendations for self-published authors, especially those writers with incredible talent that are new or simply overlooked by mainstream media?

This is precisely what ALL of the Goodreads community needs to be hearing, RIGHT NOW. It's also what every Hollywood producer, director, show-runner, and so on should be listening to.

Because there actually ARE self-published authors who have incredible talent and are just BEGGING to be in the spotlight! I can attest as I've read quite a few great self-published works.

Tag Wedgewood | 2 comments OK,
Now I am on a mission to get the attention of Goodreads to get off their behinds and create a reading buzz as powerful and meaningful as the ones they have for the powers that be. It can't be that difficult. It would only benefit them. My concern was that I was missing something that already existed.
I'll keep you posted.

David Foresi | 6 comments A bit of a rant, but... I have been on Reddit now for a short while. There are quite a few "book" subreddits that are either "I'm looking for a book like this," or "Book discussion groups with lists and such," and most of them do not allow you to post your own work or "Self-promote" in any way. It is annoying, because I am a science fiction author with less book sales than fingers and toes, yet long dead science fiction authors are getting their work promoted in these places and yet, if someone asks for a book that is a clear match for what I've written, I get shut down.

So... I created my own subreddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/Recommend_A_...

I invite authors, aspiring writers, readers and other folks I find out there on reddit. In the course of a couple of weeks, it already has 180 members.

Feel free to join and post your work. No promises, but I have gotten a few sales from reddit.
