It changes quickly - we are now in 4th place :)

I finished my 600+ pager Knight's Shadow which was great and also a white cover so helped us to finish our first 10 book rainbow too

I'm now moving to one in the 500-599 range as we have enough claimed in the 600+

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments Louise, I have quite a few books to add that I will add to the SS in the morning. I should be able to keep on top of the books now that I am back home and hopefully have no problems with our internet!! lol

Finished
Man-Made How the bias of the past is being built into the future by Tracey Spicer
which is one of the smaller ones I started as a paperback.

If only this book, and others based on understanding AI, got as much attention and coverage as the launch of ChatGPT did.

It is very concerning how AI is being developed and deployed! Especially for non-cis males, people of colour, and those with disabilities. I’m actually feeling overwhelmed with the size of the problem!! But she has some good CTAs at the end about how to call for change so I'm going to start some more research into AI and educate myself more on this topic

Melissa | 1895 comments I just finished The Lost Empire of Atlantis History's Greatest Mystery Revealed by Gavin Menzies for one of the blue slots. It was meh. It seemed more speculative than anything...
But he seemed to have a good time reading it!
I'll check on those mod towers.

This sounds interesting. ChatGPT seems to be all the rage - but maybe another way for a certain part of the population to hold onto power.

Emma (M) | 1777 comments Hi All, just checking in. Can’t believe we are halfway through the first month! Reading has been a slow start for me due to work. I’m hoping it will get better once the pace at work lets up towards the end of the month and then I’ll be able to catch up a bit.

Catsalive | 423 comments Maybe this has already been approved but here's a heads-up for the Caps:

Vetinari was not the Commander of the Night Watch, that is Sam Vimes - Captain of the Night Watch, then Commander of the City Watch. Vetinari is the Patrician, the tyrannical autocrat who rules/runs Ankh-Morpork with an iron hand inside an iron glove - I suppose he could be said to be the ultimate Minister of Police.

Anyone who is described as having a patrician nose would work for Vetinari, I think. Keep an eye out. Also anyone very cunning, wily, tyrannical or autocratic.

I see the confusion, the edition on your shelf is a different title and page count to the one linked in the spreadsheet. Please check and correct either the link on the spreadsheet or the edition shelved 😀

It says it is on the shelves 2023-scooby, 2023-tt, read

2023-tt is my tower shelf. It has a read date May 12th 2023

it's there.

Maybe it's the edition, I switched it to a different edition, maybe that will help

Amy | 327 comments I've been listening to The Villa on audiobook, and before I finish reading it, I wanted to get clarity on how I add this to my ttx shelf. I used the default edition pages on Goodreads for the tracking sheet, but do I use the audiobook edition when shelving it when I'm finished? Or do I use the default so it matches up?

message 337: by Louise (new)

Louise | 3331 comments Good morning all from a very sunny South Wales. Going to take advantage of the nice weather and get some chores done around the garden. I need to finish Forever Amber which will take most of the weekend on audio.

There is only Laura’s mod shelf left and two BOM’s prior to 2020 left on mod towers. If you click Laura’s shelf can be found here

Easiest way is to click the link in the spreadsheet which goes to their read shelf and then do a search. We only have Laura to go and then also need two books that were a BOM before 2020 and then we have finished that whole section 🙌

message 343: by Tati (new)

Tati | 1350 comments what I find easiest to do is compare their read shelf with my already own shelf. That way, Goodreads shows me only the books that that mod has already read and that I already own, so it's just a matter of reading them.

Melissa | 1895 comments Sorry I haven't been super present lately! It's been a super busy week at school - with a field trip to Boston, and all sorts of after school things.

I have a class both days this weekend, but I hope to dedicate GoodReads time in the mornings.

Next week looks less crazy.

message 346: by Saar The Book owl (last edited May 20, 2023 04:48AM) (new)

Saar The Book owl | 728 comments No need to worrie, Melissa. It's also crazy here. Reading can keep the hecticness (is that even a word?) a bit away.
I've got 11 exams next month and also busy working, but I try to put some reading between studying/work as a reward and to give my brains a bit of a rest.

I like the idea of giving myself reading as a reward.

I'm in my second year of (hopefully 4) vet tech studies. I can spread my exams through out the year, but I've got faillure anxiety and, well, I keep postponing my exams, with the result that they pile up.
