I'm the same with Bleak House, got about 300 pages into it a few years ago, and then just drifted away and it is definitely giving me stinkeye.
tower team could be just the motivation to pick it up and start again

I'll definitely be getting into The City of Brass it's been on my tbr for quite a while, but will probably hold off on the stephen king book because I read it last year. It was a very long book :)

Kaley (kaleyamo) | 1977 comments Just volunteered for DQs for 11/22/63 as well.

I'm going to try to join the discussion for The City of Brass, but there's a six-week wait at my library. It'll likely come in earlier than that, but I don't want to volunteer for DQs then end up not being able to actually do it if it doesn't come in in time.

Michael Thomas (mjthomas7980) | 608 comments For the Winners Tower, am I correct that we can use 1 book that was published the year of that TT Challenge, and also 1 book that is that number in a series?
(EX: The Atlas Paradox was published in 2022, and is 2nd in a Series, so it could count toward Electra (2022 challenge) or Moonstone (2nd challenge)?

I'm struggling to find correlations to some of them so I was looking to see what others are doing for those towers and didn't want to assume. Also - Looks like a lot of teams are using Kings of the Wyld to cover Team C - since Clay Cooper is a CC character. :)

Ok - I'll stop snooping and get back to my book. LOL

I've also been using a audiobook on Google Podcasts to read along with my paperback for Anna Karenina. It's been somewhat helpful to have that progress bar as well. There's one for Bleak House so if you use Google Podcasts, I'd definitely recommend that. It's by Loyal Books from Librivox, so it's copyright-free books.

Finally getting round to this - sorry, work decided to get in the way this morning and keep me busy until now ;-)

The idea is to be creative. So basically, as long as you can somehow explain why you think a certain book fits for a certain winning team name, it is perfectly acceptable! Year of publishing, series number, or character/author names are just an example. Word(s) in text you can use as well or something on the cover that can be related in some way to the team name. Or some completely nutty explanation connecting the team name to something that happened in the book would also work just as well :-)

Yes I’m loving the second one also!! Now that I know the characters I feel even more invested, and we get some new character perspectives which I love also. There’s already been a lot of action and I’m just about halfway!

Also today I was lucky enough to find copies that look basically new at my local used bookstore for books 2-4 which was an amazing deal!!

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 612 comments Keri wrote: "Also what all counts toward a spellout? I read through the rules a couple times and didn’t see that? I can’t remember from the other years…"

For spellout from mini challenges thread:
SPELL-IT-OUT RULES
Spell out the word(s) using the first letter in the book's title, the first letter in the author's first or last name, or the first letter of a character's first, last, or nick-name, or the first letter of the series name.
As always, if the first letter of a title starts with an indefinite or definite article ('A', 'An', 'The', etc.), you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.
If the first letter of a title is a numerical digit, then you use the first letter of that digit for your spell out (i.e. 1984 is N; 2046 is T; 1Q84 is O)
If you are listening to an audiobook, the first letter in the narrator's first or last name also can be used.
We're also allowing for Translators names, as long as the edition you are reading is a translation version.
