Also, just a little note for future BOMs: mods usually fix the page number for the BOMs when there are team challenge points involved. The page number will be written down at the beginning of the thread - in this case it's 528. This is done so that everyone gets the same amount of points for the books since some editions tend to vary a fair bit.

oh noooo i have this one on my tbr lol can i ask why you didn't like it?

also just wanted to check in and say i'm going to *hopefully* finish another book today and try to get another done by the end of the week. i was trying to decide between committing to 1 or 2 books a week when i signed up and now i feel like i maybe should have stuck with 1 lol but hopefully i was just off to a slow start last week and can get back into the groove!

@Devann the main character is super unlikeable (not that mc's need to be likeable), but I just couldn't get into it or 'root' for her. She's a massive 'not like other girls' person and she looks down her nose at every other single person in the book like she's so superior.

ah that sucks. yeah i don't necessarily need an MC to be likable but i do really hate the ~not like other girls~ thing. i'll probably give it a chapter or two to see how i feel about it

I've started another long book by Lawrence Durrell 884 pages which is set In Egypt (obviously by the title) so suits Anubis. I should get through it in May. It's 4 linked books so I can read in chunks between my other long Follet book, which I'm enjoying immensely. I've met international groups of linked characters: Russian workers and aristos, English aristos, Welsh miners, German and US embassy spies and military bods and become involved in their lives. Little do they know WW1 is imminent.
