Detours: This will be a list related task. Teams will have two lists to choose from and will need to read 5 books from one list. This can be completed by at least two people from a team (one person cannot complete this task).As recorded in the 2018 census, Samoan is the most widely spoken non-official language (2.2%), followed by "Northern Chinese" (including Mandarin, 2.0%), Hindi (1.5%), and French (1.2%). New Zealand Sign Language was reported to be understood by 22,986 people (0.5%); it became one of New Zealand's official languages in 2006.
Read a book found on the Samoa Books or Sign Language Books listopia
Roadblocks begin at line #225 on the spreadsheet tab. There’s about 6 spell-outs available - please let me know if you need more.
Roadblocks: This will be a spell-out task. Each team will get the same word. It can be completed as many times as you can. If you start a spell-out and don't complete it, you will be penalized by 5 bonus points per uncompleted word.MĀORI: ✤ MĀORI ✤Māori (Māori: [ˈmaːɔɾi], or te reo Māori ('the Māori language'), also known as te reo ('the language'), is an Eastern Polynesian language spoken by the Māori people, the indigenous population of mainland New Zealand.
Yield: Each team will have up to 3 yield opportunities (once per month). After the task has been revealed and read for, the team will then decide who to use their 'Yield' against. By yielding, you will be taking away 20 bonus points from that team.Today, the majority of New Zealand's population of 5.1 million is of European descent; the indigenous Māori are the largest minority, followed by Asians and Pacific Islanders. Reflecting this, New Zealand's culture is mainly derived from Māori and early British settlers, with recent broadening of culture arising from increased immigration. The official languages are English, Māori, and New Zealand Sign Language, with the local dialect of English being dominant.If you want to use your yield this week - please read for the following:Read a book that someone else on your team rated 5 stars (please tell me who) and the main character is a minority
Intersections: This will be a buddy read related task. Meaning you will have to work with someone new (whether on your team or another) and read a book together. The buddy can also be someone in the group but not participating in the challenge. You will need to have at least 4-5 comments per buddy read.Read a book with someone new within the group. BOTM can also count for this task. This can be repeatable.
U-Turns: Just like the yield task, each team will have up to 3 U-turn opportunities (once per month). After the task has been revealed and read for, the team will then decide who to use their 'U-turn' against. By forcing another team into a U-turn, you will be taking away 10 bonus points from that team.The first European visitor to New Zealand, Dutch explorer Abel Tasman, named the islands Staten Land, believing they were part of the Staten Landt that Jacob Le Maire had sighted off the southern end of South America. Hendrik Brouwer proved that the South American land was a small island in 1643, and Dutch cartographers subsequently renamed Tasman's discovery Nova Zeelandia from Latin, after the Dutch province of Zeeland. This name was later anglicised to New Zealand.If you want to use your U-turn this week - please read for the following:Read a book with a title that has a double vowel in it. [It must be the same letter and be intact.] (ex: Nova Zeelandia) and has the word 'EXPLORER' found in text (pg/% & quote)
Speed Bumps: After check-in day, if your team was randomly selected for last place, you will have this task to complete. It will be a super easy task that one person can complete. For example, 'Red hair on cover (any book edition will count)' or 'Published in January (any year)'.Read a book where the main character has at least one pet
Switchback: This will also be revealed after check-in days and will be a task related to where the team was previously.
Italy covers an area of 301,230 km2 (116,310 sq mi), with a population of about 60 million. It is the third-most populous member state of the European Union, the sixth-most populous country in Europe, and the tenth-largest country in the continent by land area.Read a book that is either #3, #6 or #10 in a series
Not available at this portion of the challenge:
(view spoiler)

if we do the sign language list, i can claim these;
Archer's Voice
Set Me Free
It Ain't Me, Babe
Signs of Survival: A Memoir of the Holocaust
Love Language
Wrong Way Home
if we do the samoan list, i can claim at least one or two of the following for it;
Illumine Her
Vā : Stories by Women of the Moana
The Right Swipe
Pua's Kiss

Yeah, the lists aren't as exciting as the last few, but I can definitely claim a few from each list. Some of them are under 200 pages so it'll be easier.
Added some books to your banked tab. I did see a lot of books read by Melanie but they just need a review written.

If there is a review for either Ellen or Melanie, can we use and post them if they work? Even though we haven't heard from them?

Yup, it's why I'm adding things to the banked tab :) for either people who haven't posted yet or in a while.

I’ll have my reviews done and posted in the next 3-ish hours or sooner.
Did we decide which detour list to use for next round?

Sorry, haven't had a chance to check in recently!
I have around 10 books I've read that I still need to write reviews for. I'm hoping to get around to doing those this weekend.

Yup, you got them all. Thank you!
If we need any one in particular first, let me know and I'll do the review for that one first before the others.
