Challenge Corner discussion

Ok, I checked the SS again.

If we aren't allowed to change the books that are already posted in the review thread, there are 3 books listed on the spreadsheet that could go to a spell out. That would leave another 3 we would need to add to the spell out.

I can look around and see what I can add, maybe do a couple short books. Anyone else?

AND - I asked Alaina for confirmation, so hopefully we will know soon.

okay so any new books / reviews i have for the spell out, i'll post.. and i'll wait to edit the past ones submitted.

Looks like we also need one more E book too. i'll see if i can fin anything.

Okay, so i'm psting destined to dominate in reviews... that is for a T. i'm notating in the spreadsheet, in both areas that my book is, that i posted it for spell out. and im going to do that with each of my books after i post in reviews so i can keep track and not confuse myself further with this already confusing challenge, haha.

Kade, I would maybe wait to post anything until we here from Alaina. That way we have some flexibility!

In fact, I'm thinking we should maybe we should wait every week, and post when we are close to the end of the leg. It will give us a chance to move things around until we have it as preferable as possible! We could add a column to the SS for review links, in case we need to post for other members. Just a thought!

Sorry! It's hard to keep on top of the conversation this way. You are, of course, free to do whatever you think it best. I don't want to seem like I'm being pushy. It's hard to convey that this way sometimes.

That may be difficult for some people. I know I post all my reviews for all 3 challenges at the same time so I don't confuse myself or miss any of them. We also face the battle of people not being able to get on in time to post in time. or if we miss something we need and don't realize it until that moment, there won't be time to get what we need last minute.

I think it's best to come up with a general game plan at the start of the week so those of us who choose books for the challenge can do so ahead of time; we can plan our reading schedules for the week, etc. I think it's too ... "dangerous" to wait last minute.

Very good points! I generally agree.

Maybe next week, we will have a better idea of how to make things work and be able to have a more educated/organized approach. This week is definitely a bit of a mess. It's probably my fault for trying to add the spell out (for Ellen).

Either way, I think we can accomplish the spell out, even if I just have to stay up late and have a read-a-thon to pick up missing books.

i can probably commit to two more for the spell out if need be.

I had two more books to review today, but the day has gotten away from me. So ill review those and post them tomorrow with the spell out review i have if we are moving forward with that!

Oh my goodness, everyone - I am SO sorry, I feel like you all had things worked out and I came along and mucked things up *cries* I didn't mean to do that; I'm so so sorry!

I guess I'm just super confused with this challenge, as well as feeling like I might have to read books I don't want to read - but I probably shouldn't have voiced it because I've confused everyone so much :(

I've read It Ends with Us, and am currently reading The Atlas Six The No-Show and The Princess and the Fangirl but I think the spellout looks complete now?

Please don't change things for me, I feel really bad; I can always just withdraw from this challenge - I don't want to make my stress into everyone else's stress!

Ellen! don't feel bad, I'll see if I can fit your books in the spell out, since I can remove a few anyway! I'll let you know and then you can post in the review thread. Ok?

If you feel like you need to focus more towards spell-outs in general, I think that's fine.

Ellen, I added those books into the spell-out. Can you please make sure you add them all to your read shelf with dates and fill in the read dates on the SS, then post your reviews in the Review Thread?

Amanda, I moved your book to the spell out. I'm trying to keep us from having to change already posted books, and yours easily replaced someones already posted book. Sorry to confuse you. Will that be ok with you? You hadn't posted it in the review thread yet.

Yes! I put that one in the spell-out and moved out a previously posted book. As of this second, you need to post these in the review thread: A-We Are Not Like Them (Christina Pride, Jo Piazza), C-The Last Party (Clare Mackintosh).

There is another book of yours in the spell-out, but I know you are still reading that one (R-The Return), and you have a book listed above "Heartsick" for Set in Oregon - Are you still going to read that or no?

We now have one 1 book (mine) that was posted previously that needs to be moved out. If needed, I can pick up another book to replace it.

Ellen, I agree that you need not feel bad! We are all in this together and I am confused too! That being said, we need to communicate and ask questions! No 1 person is responsible, so our questions and voices need to be heard! Please don’t feel bad! No harm was done but rather we now now we CAN complete the spell out if we so choose. :)

Yikes, looks like I'm a bit behind in the chat. Sorry, classes just starting and my head is a bit clouded.

so I've added a book to the Spreadsheet but haven't posted it. It's completed and in a NEW spell out since it didn't fit anything else (at least, I don't think so) I DID list my review but I'll watch to see if I need to post it.

and now that i've finished that super boring book (lol) I'll be getting through more books and try to keep up on chat!

Trisha, I moved your book to the F in the main Roadblock/Spell Out and moved Kade's to Route Info, since it had multiple uses. If both of you want to post your reviews, you can :)

Our spellout is full, so if there is a book that you read that will only work for the spellout and NOTHING else or if you won't finish a claimed letter/book, let us know ASAP, so that if we need to move things around we can, so all the books get used. Alaina confirmed we can move things, so, if we need to, we can.

I posted my spell out review. I’m going to post a few more book reviews shortly and update the spreadsheet. So if anyone has requests for what I fill, let me know. :)

I don't think I'll have Murder in Half Moon Bay done in time

if celia cant do her letter i have The Island of Doctor Moreau by H.G. Wells i will be able to replace her spell out book

Sounds good to me. When I get back home I will love her book out back to Route Info (in case she does finish) and anyone is free to take that space.

Oops sorry I guess I have it wrong. I thought its any alphabet in the title can work for spellout

Usually in challenges we can use any edition of the book, not just the edition you read. So if there's a different edition of the book that works for the E, then the book can still be used.

Did you guys see that we can bank books if we don't want to use them on this leg? Alaina mentioned that in the Q&A and that she would create a banked books tab on the spreadsheet if we wanted her to. What do y'all think?
