Amanda (porkchop0911) | 522 comments i can take a detour book...three cups of tea and The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy (Montague Siblings, #2)...and my book heartsick can transfer to book with red cover...since i switched that out for wild...ashley can we use this as a BR for wild?

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments I had started a book for the detour so if we need it, I can be done in two hours.

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments wait, do we need one or two books for the detour - pct? jenny had claimed two books for that, and i don't see reviews for it.

if we need two, then we need both amanda and myself to fill those then which works.

I can post the review for Six Rooms asap if we need it.

also - is anyone else on board with reading from this list for the detour for leg two?

for next leg's PCT, i can do any or all these;
The Hike
To the Back of Beyond
The Pledge
Strange Star
The Book of Lost Names

perfect.
we could actually double on this
if you want to read the book of lost names with me as a buddyread - we can then use that for the Intersection option?

and then you can claim one or two for the Detour list as well?

should we start by each claiming one definite read for the detour list and then somehow decide how to choose the remaining 2 since 3 of us can definitely read for detour and have shown interest in multiple books?

so amanda, you're going to claim that first book for the Detourfor leg two for the Switzerland list, right?

Shia, which one book do you want to definitely claim for your detour book? and let me know if you want to do the intersection / buddyread option in addition as well?

to start, I'll claim - The Hike.

That will give us 3 definites for Detour. If no one else wants to claim extras, I'll definitely claim at least one more.

message 215: by Kade (new)

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments Also - what's our opinion on going for spell-out this round? I think it's do-able if we start claims now. Is it more points if we do a spell-out or the route info prompts?

Detours: This will be a list related task. Teams will have two lists to choose from and will need to read 5 books from one list. This can be completed by at least two people from a team (one person cannot complete this task).

my take is that it has to be the same list based on the "one list"

kade you were right...i misread it and thought you could read from either list
i will choose The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy (Montague Siblings, #2) by Mackenzi Lee

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments Ashley wrote: "I can comment from my phone, but I prob won't be able to get on the computer until the morning!"

no worries. i started on the spreadsheet for week 2. i put in my claim for the switz list there and once amanda and shia confirm their claims, ill put those in. that will start us with 3 claims. i wanted to see if anyone else wanted to claim a spot before we start claiming doubles.

Shia and I may be able to do a buddyread for "the book of lost names" if she's interesting, [ it's also on the switz list, so i'd love to read it either way. ]

I'm putting in notes for my banked books to state what they fit. [ ie; spell out, route info, etc ]

let me know if i can do anything else to help anyone for either posting for today's final books or next weeks.

some of the wording can be taken either way, so i get it. sorry if i stepped on any toes by claiming the switz list. i put your book / claim into the spreadsheet. If no one else wants to claim any books from that list, i can claim 1-2 more if need be.

yay so that will count as a buddyread then, but not for the list reads right?

message 233: by Kade (new)

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments Vicki - I saw you put a book in the detour spot on the spreadsheet. But the book you chose is from the humanitarian list. You have to choose a book from the switzerland list if you are participating

message 234: by Kade (new)

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments Ashley wrote: "I'll also read the book of lost names and do a buddy read!"

We need a buddyread thread requested for it right? If so, would you mind requesting it?

message 235: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments Ohhhh I thought it was from either list. So what’s the humanitarian list for? Sorry but my phone doesn’t show all the words (grrr).

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments Vicki wrote: "Ohhhh I thought it was from either list. So what’s the humanitarian list for? Sorry but my phone doesn’t show all the words (grrr)."

We get to choose which list we read from as a group. But we all have to read from the same list. I suggested the Switzerland list earlier, so 3 of us have chosen a book from that list. Two of us are more than happy to read extras from the list if need be, or if no one else finds a book to read from it. A few of us are also going to buddyread a book from that list for Intersection.

This is what it specifically says about Detour. I'm bolding the part where it says one list, so i'm 98% sure we have to all read from just the one list.

Detours: This will be a list related task. Teams will have two lists to choose from and will need to read 5 books from one list. This can be completed by at least two people from a team (one person cannot complete this task).

message 237: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 1107 comments Kate, I will request in the morning if I get a free moment, if not I will do it Sunday.

I'm pretty sure we can do it as a Switzerland list, but get double points for a buddy read, instead of using it as an intersection task

hm, so do we not want to do the intersection option then?
are we allowed to have more than 5 reads for detour? If Shia, you and I all do the book, that would be the final books needed for the detour list after my and Amanda's claims. But I can take my claim down if Vicki wants to read something from the list. Or I could do my read of it towards a route info prompt instead of detour, and you and shia's reads towards the detour?

message 240: by Kade (new)

Kade Gulluscio (kadebraylen) | 3757 comments Do we think we want to try for the spell out? Just trying to decide on my reads for the week so i can get them downloaded and such. I tend to choose reads from my TBR based on challenges so i can fill some prompts as much as possible. lol.

I THINK we can do it, but i don't want to over-commit anyone if they don't think they can read enough to do it. We'd need 9 total books for it - plus the 5 for detour.
I have at least one in the banked books that route sfor spell out that ill be reviewing tomorrow.

message 243: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments Kade, thank you. I guess I will withdraw my name from the DETOUR list until I get a chance to look at the other one. Anyone can remove my name and replace it with a book of their choice if anybody wants to do that.

message 244: by Isabel (new)

Isabel | 1328 comments Hey team! I'm super sorry that i haven't logged in yet. I've been reading but i'm struggling with writing my bachelor's thesis and i'm not progressing well.
I'll upload my reviews timely from now on!

message 245: by Isabel (new)

Isabel | 1328 comments And hello again! I've been reading a little through the chat and am also a little confused (as well as late to the party, apologies again).
Are we reading for Route info or detour? Or can we freely choose? If not, what is missing? I'm currently reading two books, so i can check if one of them might fit whatever is needed :)

message 246: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 1107 comments I don't think it matters where we put them as far as Detour vs intersection. I wasn't saying we had to do one over the other! I hadn't added up everyone who wanted to read for Detour, so I wasn't trying to take a spot that wasn't there.

We can fill the Detour and then whomever reads the BR book can be either place depending on space, right?

message 247: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (porkchop0911) | 522 comments So with my quick and dirty look at the banked books and the roadblock letters here is what i have so far
M-Magic Bleeds
O
N
T
E-The Menopause Murder-Mary Maloney & Ed Markle
R-Not My Romeo
O-The Plus One
S-Star Mother
A-The Awakening

with that being said I can go and claim LOVE ON THE BRAIN

message 248: by Isabel (new)

Isabel | 1328 comments okay, thank you! i'll try to work with that information :)

message 249: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Basile (smashreads) | 1107 comments I will have a look when I get home from work today, I should have time to work out what books to read this week then.

Vicki, don't withdraw if you want to read the book you chose! We should be able to use everyone's, just have to decide where to put everything.

message 250: by Celia (new)

Celia Buell (semi hiatus) (celiareadsbooks) | 3944 comments I can take the second O in the spell out. Either The Odd Sisters or Princess and the Fangirl - Once Upon a Con series (whichever I finish first)
