Miss Mae | 73 comments Where do you guys gets your bookmarks? I have an account at vista Print, but am not too sure I want to go through there (haven't seen where they make them anyway!)

I get mine from VistaPrint. It's a little more work--but a lot less money--to use them. I designed a regular (4x6) postcard that was actually two bookmarks side-by-side. When I got them, I just cut them apart with my nifty paper cutter.

There is an excellent article about it on redroom, written by Ryoma Collia-Suzuki, that explains it beautifully.

Here's the link, but I couldn't get it to work a little bit ago...

I get my bookmarks from http://www.willywalt.com/ and have been very pleased with them. I use VistaPrint for business cards and post cards, because they offer so many freebies. I haven't seen VistaPrint offer bookmarks and never thought about doing them Jaimey's way. (Jaimey's so smart!)

Thank you, Joyce, but I can't take the credit for postcard-bookmarks. I never would have thought of it if not for Ryoma. :o)

The link I mentioned above works today. It is very detailed in how to get great looking bookmarks for next to nothing. I encourage everyone to check it out.

Miss Mae | 73 comments I'm going to check into that Willy Walt, because I did look over that article with making the postcard that way. Appeared to be a lot of hard work! And I'm not keen on Vista Print charging to upload pics (I know. I used them for brochures and had to pay that.)

The most I've ever paid for an upload at VistaPrint was $2.49. I probably get 1-2 emails per day and usually one per week offers free or half-price uploads. Of course, I've ordered so much stuff from them that they'll never leave me alone. LOL

My last VistaPrint order included 50 oversized postcards that were then cut into 250 bookmarks; 100 regular postcards that were cut into 200 bookmarks; 1 keychain; 1 pen; 25 business card magnets; and 250 business cards. Every item had an image upload. My total cost was $10.45. Making bookmarks this way is a lot of work but when every penny counts... :o)

Miss Mae | 73 comments Hmm...Jaimey, I sure wish you could make mine since yours are beautiful, and you certainly appear to have a knack for it!

I suppose I'm going to have to try that, though. But when I uploaded a photo at VistaPrint, they charged $5. You just know how to do this stuff! :)

Hywela (hywela-lyn) | 14 comments I've been making postcards with Vista for a couple of years now. I usually use the large size and portrait style and get three bookmarks out of each one making 150. They're trickier to cut than doing a standard postcard with two bookmarks, and I lose the odd one or two, but I like my bookmarks long and still get plenty from an order!

There are snags though. No, not the upload charge, because once the main pictures, i.e. bookcovers are uploaded I use the same pictures to make different items so I only pay for each picture once. The snag is - I live in the UK. The free offers are much scarcer here than they are in the US, in fact, on occasions, I've ordered from the US site and even paying Air Mail has been cheaper than paying full price on the UJ site. Also, for some reason, I no longer get the promotional emails, even though I keep requesting them, and have to keep trying to find promotional codes that will let me onto one of their sites which is running the free offer I need. I've done cover flats, and calendars this way, I'm very happy with them. I'd certainly recommend doing the bookmarks, because if you can do them for free, paying just postage and tax, and your time, it works out much cheaper than paying to have them made professionally.

I've used Vista Print for years. Love the promotional emails they send. I always use the USA site even though I'm in Australia. They are much cheaper from the USA than from anywhere else when using the promotions.

Arch | 119 comments I get my bookmarks from the library.

Miss Mae | 73 comments Well, I've received my bookmarks from Vista Print! Thought it kept trying to tell me that my resolution was too low, I knew of no way to rectify that, and I hoped I had my text for the backside going the right way. I was uptight wondering how it would all turn out, but when I've received them, I must say they are excellent, even if I did design them myself! LOL

Right now, I'm having to snip them apart. But though I paid for uploading the pic and for shipping, $20 for 200 bookmarks ain't bad at all. :)

Thanks for telling me about this, you guys. :)

I'm so glad it worked out for you, MM! :o)

Hywela (hywela-lyn) | 14 comments Glad they were ok MM, I often get that message about the resolution too, but you can usually tell if they're OK if they're not fuzzy on the screen!
