4 Moms Book Corner discussion

I found ‘Raven Blood’ and ‘Ashes and Bones’ to be lackluster and tedious, which was very disappointing. I complained about the books and how the story was progressing more than I ever managed to get into the story. I really wanted to give the series a fair shot, I know that some series are a very slow build and take time, but I could not bring myself to do it. I barely forced myself to finish book 2.

The series was supposed to be a paranormal reverse harem, but by the end of book 1 I had SO many questions. Too many for me to feel any sort of investment in the book. While I definitely keyed into the RH aspect of the story, her 8 boys for starters, there was barely an ambiguous hint of anything paranormal in the first book. Then there were elusive references to some life-changing event that she kept referring to but then glossed over. The second book didn’t really provide that many answers either, and generated more questions for me. I finally got to see what the paranormal aspect was but I didn’t like how she introduced it, and if I’m being honest, didn’t like her version of magic.

It really surprised me how much I struggles to get into this series and how much I ultimately didn’t like what I read. Public opinion gave the books 4.4 and 4.6 respectively, with an average of 1,000+ rating reviews each. With that kind of feedback, I thought it would be an entertaining read for sure. It just goes to show that while public opinion may be great, that doesn’t always mean that the book or series is for you. Maybe some of you have had better luck with it?
