Q: Do we just read books that fit our classes or is there a schedule of things?
A: You will read books that fit the tasks for your classes to "prepare" for your tests. Those tasks may be read in any order at your pace. Your "tests" will be at a faster pace on a specific schedule that is posted in message 1.

Q: When can we start? Can we finish a book today or do we have to wait til April?
Also Does it go by start & finish dates?
A: Books may be started before the challenge BUT must be finished after the start of the challenge. This does NOT apply to TEST books. They must be started after the test starts.

Q. Is it 1 book for each class or all the tasks under a class?
A. One book per task EXCEPT for the 5 Rules Task

Q: Can we read for all of the items in the 5 Rules task?
A. Each task can only be done once except for the '5 Rules of Surviving Fairy Tales' task. You may do each word once. So you may read up to 10 books for that task @ 5 points each.

Q. How do we score?
A. 5 points for each class task completed. Test scores are different. They will be by page count.

Q. Do we have to do prompts in the section that is both Good and Evil?
A. Those classes are taken by both Good & Evil students here at the School of Good & Evil. I am aware that some people will not finish all of the tasks. This is a competitive challenge and you are competing against your partner. I will leave it at that. Please note that I plan to keep track of your scores and update them in your threads periodically.

Q. I'm confused as to what this specific task is looking for. Can you elaborate more?
🦹‍♂️Read a book with at least one of the 5 strategies for training henchmen in the text
1. Command
2. Taunt
3. Trick
4. Bribe
5. Bully
A. One of those words should be in the text.

Q. Can I use different forms of the words that I need to find in the text?
A. of course

Q. For takes dance lessons would you accept someone who teaches dance
A. It doesn't have to be official lessons with a certified teacher but the person does have to be learning dance steps. Teaching & learning something are two different things. Teaching means that you already know the subject. Learning it means you don't. When a teacher is learning a new style, they become a student of another teacher.

Q. For hunting food, would fishing for food count? Or crabbing?
A. The pursuit, harvesting or catch and release of fish and aquatic cephalopods and crustaceans is called fishing, which however is widely accepted and not commonly categorised as a form of hunting, even though it essentially is.

Based on this, I have to accept fishing as it is essentially a form of hunting. Crabbing is a similar theory so I will accept it.

Q. Weird question but does the unlikely hero have to be humanoid?
A. no

Q. For a book with BEAUTY in the title, would the word Beauties work?
A. Now this one I messed up on. It was supposed to be the letters Beauty in the title and I didn't catch my error. However, my screwup is your gain. I will take any form of the word intact OR the letters of Beauty in any order in the title.

One book per task. All tasks under each of your classes are open to being done.

The book I just finished reading is tagged 'Cinderella', 'Fantasy Fairytale Historical', and 'Fairytale-ish'. Is that close enough for the task "Read a book tagged Fairy Tales"?

As long as the tag says fairy tale somewhere in it, I will accept it. Those are fine.

Barbara ★ | 2287 comments Question on scoring for completion post.

Book Points for Classes
5 points per completed class task

Do we add the points for Page Count as well?
In other words 5 points for completing a task PLUS 3 points for a 325 pages book, so score would be 8. Is that correct?

Wolf (Alpha) | 247 comments Are you able to do one task multiple times or just once per task?

The page count scoring is only for the tests. Classes are a flat 5 points per completed task.

LaurLa | 3913 comments For this task:
✨Read a book with one of the bold words below in the text or title.
5 Rules
1. The Evil attack. The Good defend.
2. The Evil punish. The Good forgive.
3. The Evil hurt. The Good help.
4. The Evil take. The Good give.
5. The Evil hate. The Good love.

Do we read one book per rule with either of the bolded words in the text or just one book with any of the 10 bolded words in the text?

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 1591 comments Ok what about something that show creativity in action even using the ultimate root create. From Moonstruck

Working with Jesse was familiar and always inspiring—he was an amazing musician—but recording with Nick and Shane really revved up Surya’s excitement because they were new. This was uncharted territory for all of them, blending their styles to try to create something fresh and appealing to a broader audience while trying to preserve enough of their respective sounds so as not to displease the fans they already had. It was a fine line, but Surya thought they’d found a good balance, and the results were coming together beautifully.

The day before each test, I will post the test requirement. You will have the rest of the day to find a book (aka study) for the test. I will set up a start & end timer for you. You will have all of Saturday until 11:59 PM EDT Sunday to complete your book. The test books will be scored by page count using the chart provided. Yes, the higher page count is worth more but you can't start it until the test starts & it must be finished before it ends. It is definitely a strategy thing but it also MUST fit the task. Whichever partner gets the higher points on the test passes the test. The winner of 2 out of 3 tests gets 100 bonus points.

Michelle's Empty Nest (mlundy5) | 704 comments Donna, I think I'm confusing myself. Once I read one book for, let's say, Beautification Class, am I done with that class? Or can I continue to read for other tasks under that class?

Thanks!

You would read for as many tasks as you want under that class. You want to be "prepared" for your tests.

Actually I am asking if a dance teacher would work instead of someone who is taking dance lessons.
“He had a final rehearsal with his dance students tonight. He was sorry he couldn’t be here, but I told him it would just be boring business shit anyway.”

In your example, the teacher was rehearsing with students not learning new dance styles. When they are learning a new style, they become a student of another teacher.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 1591 comments Good I have a book where the eye seeing dog drapes itself over its blind person when he falls in a ditch and was in the park overnight so the blind person wouldn't die from exposure and hypothermia. Definitely think that makes the dog an unlikely hero!

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 1591 comments For dance lessons will this work:

Marie patted his shoulder once again, then pulled her hand away. “I love this scene,” she said, turning her attention to the dance lesson in the movie where Debra Messing stomped Dermot Mulroney’s foot and he proceeded to sweep her off her feet. “I used to love to go dancing.” She cleared her throat and turned away from the television, then asked Carlos if he minded if she turned off the television.
