I haven't seen a thread started yet and I wanted to comment on the Pokemon cookbook, so figured I'd start it.

I haven't seen the actual cookbook, but many of the recent Pokemon games have gotten away from "just" having berries for Pokemon. In Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, you go into cafes for malasadas, which I think are kind of like doughnuts. In Sword/Shield, you make curries for your Pokemon. And in Scarlet/Violet, you make sandwiches. All of these things are things that make your Pokemon love you more and such.

So if the cookbook has recipes for things like that, count me in!

I enjoyed the show, as usual. Thanks for keeping it up for so long.

Ken Farley | 1 comments With all the talk of coffee on this episode, I started to wonder: What books/authors do folks think have the best coffee related writing?

For me, the author who has made me absolutely crave an espresso is William Gibson. It's usually by an auxiliary, passing character, but I suspect Mr Gibson is as smitten the perfect foamy brew as I am.

Phil | 1454 comments The Callahan's Bar series by Spider Robinson makes a big deal about coffee and Irish coffee and what the best beans are and how to brew it, etc.
Heinlein often goes on about his characters morning coffees as well.

Dune has Spice Coffee.

1984 'Dune' movie Paul Atriedes would describe it as a "Damn fine cup of spice coffee." 😉

Phil | 1454 comments I knew this question twigged a memory so I found this in The SF Book of Lists by Maxim Jakubowski and Malcolm Edwards. It's a list called "Ten Characters Who Have Promoted the Consumption of Coffee in Improbable Quarters of Space and Time."
I'll just list the books they're found in:
Second Stage Lensmen by E.E. Doc Smith
Assassin of Gor by John Norman
Dune by Frank Herbert
"If all men were brothers, would you let one marry your sister?" by Theodore Sturgeon (short story)
The Mote in God's Eye by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle
"With morning comes mistfall" by George R.R. Martin (short story)
The Galaxy Primes by E.E. Doc Smith
Glory Road by Robert Heinlein
The Ship Who Sang by Anne McCaffrey
The Avatar by Poul Anderson

Smith was an academic, probably powered by coffee..
