Eddie was 12 years old in 1986, hanging out with his 4 best friends and enjoying life as a pre-teen. They had a secret code used for arranging meetings: each had a unique chalk color with which they drew stick figures to indicate a get together in a nearby park. One particular day another stick figure drawing in the dead leaves of the park led the way to a dismembered body. It was that of a young girl who had been horribly disfigured during an accident at a local fair. Now she lies in pieces in the park...except for her head.
Thirty years later each of the 5 friends receives a letter containing a chalk stick figure. Eddie reluctantly returns to his home town and is drawn back into the mystery once more. So much had happened that summer when they were 12 and, although Eddie does not wish to revisit the horror, he feels drawn back to his friends. One of the 5 will soon be dead forcing Eddie to face his fears and try to learn the truth buried in his past.
This was an intriguing mystery, a bit gory at times, but a good story. The ending is a shocker but a great payoff.
