Myst (detetiv) | 54 comments I noted on one of the Publishing companies listed this on their Approval Preferences: "if you are a regular reviewer and you include information about the publications you review for as well as links to some recent reviews"

Do they mean auto-approved or ones you get acceptance requests from most of the time?

I did a little looking and I have about 3 tbr arc's from them.

What would be the best way to put that info in my profile?

I think they mean your blog site or wherever you post reviews. You can put it in your profile where it has the 'main' place you review URL and also in your 'bio' info
:)

Nanci | 2567 comments Question:
I signed up with Net Galley and have been able to download some of the "read now" books, but haven't been selected for the other free books. Today I got this email from them:

*If you have a Goodreads account, we look at your profile to ensure your reviews are public, and review a minimum of 5 titles. We also require that you post on at least one bookstore site as well (we check the titles);

My GR reviews are public and I almost always post a review after I read a book. I don't understand the last sentence about posting on a bookstore site. Can someone help explain?
TIA

message 206: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Maybe just post a review on Amazon or Barnes and Noble or something like that.

message 207: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments Ok. I have posted a few on Amazon before, but I'll do that some more and try B&N, which I haven't done. Thanks, Kristie.

message 208: by Myst (new)

Myst (detetiv) | 54 comments Anyone help explain this in more depth on what exactly this publisher is asking? I've seen this in a few other publisher's Approval Preferences.

if you are a regular reviewer and you include information about the publications you review for as well as links to some recent reviews

So is it saying if you review often for say publishing house 1, 2 & 3 to list it? Even though you are not auto-approved with any of them? Also the recent reviews they just mean to put a recent review in your links url space?

message 209: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments I think that refers to if you do reviews for a publication. So, if you were a reviewer in a magazine or something.

For those that enjoyed The Paper Magician (The Paper Magician Trilogy, #1) by Charlie N. Holmberg , her new book is now available as "read now"
Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet by Charlie N. Holmberg

Download here

Although I loved the concept of The Paper Magician, I thought it was just ok and the second book dreadful. But I'm still holding out hope for this new one! Again, it is an interesting concept even if somewhat reminiscent of The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender

message 213: by Nanci (new)

Nanci | 2567 comments Sounds intriguing, Karen. Thanks for including the link for the download. :)

message 215: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I GOT APPROVED FOR Paper and Fire (The Great Library, #2) by Rachel Caine !!!!!

Sorry for the caps, but being approved by Berkley Publishing Group is always a celebration worthy event. They publish some of my favorite authors, so, it's the group I secretly wish one day being able to be pre-approved :D

Not with my ration or social media reach... BUT dreams are not supposed to be easy to get :D

I finished
When We Were Alive by C.J. Fisher
which is literary fiction and has left me with so many questions that I'd love for someone to read it so they can explain some bits to me! haha
Book is available here:

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments If anyone likes YA contemporary I recently finished You Know Me Well by David Levithan by David Levithan.

I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend. It's available for request here https://s2.netgalley.com/catalog/book...

Alison (a1ison74) | 2826 comments First one of his books I've read so can't compare but I've added a few of his other books to my tbr.

message 221: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Sounds good, Alison. I will have to wait for the US version though, which is maybe a good thing since I'm still trying to catch up with reviews for books I already have. Added to my TBR.

I'm currently reading The Thief Who Pulled on Trouble's Braids and its so good!"

Oh good! I requested, and got approved, for that (or was it a read now maybe, I can't remember). I figured it would be a good one to have for the Relay Race Quest at the RPG (needs long titles), plus it looked interesting. :) It's on the short list (with 50 or so others). LOL!

Alysa H. | 3840 comments Another NetGalley addict here.
I'm at 77% and have 61 titles to read as of today 8 June 2016. (Yikes!)
I was very briefly at 80% but have been hovering around 78/79% for a while now. I keep getting new titles faster than I can read them (and I'm still trying to make my way through my non-NG TBR list too, more or less in order of acquisition).

I mean, it's not my fault that they keep approving my requests, right? RIGHT?! ;D

message 226: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments Alysa - Are you participating in the NetGalley challenge? It runs monthly and really helps us to focus on getting our reviews done, as well as supporting our over-requesting. ;) You can join the June challenge here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 228: by Kristie (new)

Kristie | 3595 comments For anyone that has read The Passage or is interested in the trilogy, the third and final book in The Passage trilogy , The City of Mirrors, is still available on NetGalley until June 24th. I'm currently reading it and just got to 60% and don't want to put it down. If you're interested, you can request it here.

That book looks great, Nicole. I love fairy tale remakes, especially one with an interesting twist.
I just requested it...even though I should NOT be requesting more Netgalley books. Lucky for me I saw your post in time and it wasn't archived yet. :)

I was able to get an ARC from the author himself at the beginning of the year. And, yes, it's an awesome story. I rated it 4.5 stars.

I am interested in reading his other books now. This is my type of Fantasy - I struggle a bit with chunky high fantasy stuff ;)

Lol I know. It is what I would call "accessible" Fantasy ;)
No crazy long world descriptions and and good pacing. There are a lot of "made up" words but it doesn't stop the flow of the story. There is a glossary at the back but i didn't feel the need to use it

message 240: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments oooh, those are the best kinds of fantasy :D

You should definitely read his other series! They are really good! Different from this story, but with the same writing style that's so easy and fast to read. The first few books in the Ryria Revelations books are good but not great. But they keep getting better and better til you reach the fantastic ending that ties everything together so wonderfully.

What is the best book to start with? I'm a little confused with the use of "parts" in the series

I haven't been doing team challenges and went on holidays with just my kindle.... combined to make me really power through my NetGalley books!
Plus I don't like to get my shelf to more than 10 anyhow. Once I get there I don't login to NetGalley... lol
