Happy first day of the read-a-thon!

The event runs from when you wake up on Saturday, April 8 until you go to sleep on Sunday, April 16. The goal is to read as much as you can and to have tons of fun. Feel free to participate in as few or as many games as you like.

So let’s kick off this read-a-thon with some questions, and don’t forget to keep coming back to the read-a-thon folder throughout the week to see the latest games, check in with your teammates in the team challenge, and update your tracking.

1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges?
4. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!

LeahS | 1369 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
To tick off some of my ATY/PopSugar challenges.

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
No, I would just like a variety of reading.

3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges?
Individual

Where will you be doing most of your reading?
The garden would be nice, but probably in bed or on the sofa.

5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week?
I hope not. I'm waiting on several books I've got on hold at the library, so fingers crossed they arrive after the holiday.

1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
Definitely want to finish the three books I currently have in progress, and it would be great if I could knock out another two.

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
Currently in progress: The Appeal, Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, and Anatomy: A Love Story

Really loving all three of these so I'm excited to get through them.

3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges?
Just the team challenge this go round!

4. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
It's spring break for me, and my girl will be in daycare Tuesday-Friday, so I have big plans for getting things done around the house while listening to audiobooks. Hoping I can also squeeze in a print book or two as well.

5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
General distractions - the Harry Potter video game, cooking competitions, appointments, etc.

Sherri Harris | 1500 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon? My main goal is to finish listening to Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln. I have 38 hours left. I also hope to complete 3 other books.

3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges? Both
4. Where will you be doing most of your reading? Living room sofa.

5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on! I will be spending Sunday with family for Easter and with the drive there and back, it will take up the whole day. Monday, I have a class and meetings from 9:30 am-3:30pm. Other days should be a lot freer.

message 6: by Jennifer W (new)

Jennifer W | 678 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon? If I get anything read, it'll be amazing.

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish? I'm dying to start Waco: David Koresh, the Branch Davidians, and A Legacy of Rage, but whoever checked it out first is now 2 full weeks late. I'm starting to suspect that they checked it out to keep other people from reading it....

3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges? Individual, just counting pages.

4. Where will you be doing most of your reading? Daybed, couch, maybe outside if the weather is as nice as they're forecasting!

5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on! Cleaning today, hosting Easter/family Birthday party for my kiddo tomorrow, Monday is taking her to the movies, and the rest of the week she's home on spring break. But you know, she'll be a year older by then, so maybe she'll be more independent! LOL

message 7: by Martha (new)

Martha (marthag503) | 515 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon? To get to the halfway point in War and Peace and to knock off some library books I keep accumulating.

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish? Our Missing Hearts. Others are Seeking Fortune Elsewhere: Stories and Weyward. I'm dying to finish War and Peace, but I'll have another 700 pages after I get to the halfway point and that's not going to happen this week.

3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges? I'm doing both team and individual challenges. I want to see where I am with the reading personality quiz.

4. Where will you be doing most of your reading? Alas, I'm sick, so probably will be doing most of my reading in bed.

5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on! Not really. This virus is going to have me canceling my childcare duties and appointments this week. It's the upside of being sick.

message 8: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Peterson | 700 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
I'm two books behind on the challenge, so I'd love to catch up! I feel like the first quarter of the year has been a bit slow for me, so I'm hoping devoting a bit more time for reading will jumpstart me a bit. I'm hoping to read a few books that are really compelling!

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
I've been reading My Name Is Lucy Barton all morning and it's so lovely, I can't wait to dive back in. I've got a few other exciting options out from the library and can't figure out which one I'll start next: The Sentence, Our Wives Under the Sea, or Record of a Spaceborn Few?

3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges?
Probably just the team, but we'll see!

4. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
Right now I'm at my parents' house for Easter weekend, so I'll be doing a lot of reading on their couch, by the fireplace, hopefully with a dog or cat next to me. But I'll go back home on Monday and I'm hoping the end of the week will be warm enough to read out on my balcony!

5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
Some Easter celebrations first, and then I'm just going to try to break the habit I've recently fallen into of watching The Good Place in the evenings instead of reading!

message 9: by Kendra (new)

Kendra | 2096 comments 1. What are your goals for the read-a-thon?
Finish 9-10 books, and hopefully finish 1 of the books I've started but stalled out on.🤞

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
Sweet Bean Paste, Mirror to Mirror, Spy x Family, Vol. 9, Angel & Hannah: A Novel in Verse and At Last.

3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges?
Yep

4. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
As per usual, wherever I can.

5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
Well, this weekend I'm busy with Easter plans with my family and next weekend I've got a big concert with 2 choirs and I also have a couple of social events in between, so I'll be on the go. And as I told my team, that means when I do have free time I will prioritize reading over checking in on Goodreads.

message 14: by Roxana (new)

I've been saving several slightly shorter books for this week, so I'd really like to finish a book a day average. Fingers crossed!

2. Are there any books you're dying to start or finish?
Really looking forward to most of the books on my short tbr, especially Divine Rivals (started it today, love it so far), The Bruising of Qilwa, and Alone With You in the Ether.

3. Are you participating in the team or individual challenges?
Both.

4. Where will you be doing most of your reading?
In bed or in my usual living room arm chair, but the weather's supposed to be lovely this week so might be reading outside in the backyard or at the neighborhood park, too!

5. Is there anything that's going to stand in the way of your reading this week? Let us cheer you on!
Just my own distractible brain, honestly, lol. I have a couple of events this week, like a book club meeting next weekend, but not more than usual.
