Caitlin (pineapplesf) | 5 comments I am really not very good picking books out. Does anyone know where I can find a good reading group or reading partner? I've tried looking at groups -- but I don't know which ones are good or not.

Karina (karinargh) | 807 comments There are a lot of good groups here on GoodReads dedicated to specific genres, most of which do monthly group reads. I'm in a few groups who read fantasy and science fiction, and a graphic novel one.

It's hard to give you any specific recommendations without knowing anything about what books you enjoy reading. :)

Caitlin (pineapplesf) | 5 comments Hmm, I tend to read books people recommend, hand to me, or I can get really cheap. My current method is the first 5 books in the clearance section.

I like most genres, I guess. I read romance, science fiction (though the genre tends to run a little perverse for me), fantasy, history, literature, science, horror, thriller (though I usually find these too predictable), nutrition/cooking, and YA fiction. I really like folklore and fairytales from around the world.

Right now I'm reading a compilation of rather depressing wizard tales The Mammoth Book of Sorcerers' Tales : The Ultimate Collection of Magical Fantasy from Tom Holt, Ursula K. LeGuin, Michael Moorcock, Peter Crowther, Louise Cooper, and many more.

I'm learning Japanese so I read a decent amount of manga (in Japanese) -- and while I am slowly reading a Japanese novel I don't think I could keep up with a reading group (I'm at about a 6th-7th grade level >.<).

I don't really like poetry. :-/
