Anniversary Challenge:
Happy anniversary everyone!

This will be our eighth year of being a group on Goodreads and that makes us very happy. Just like all the other previous anniversary challenges, we are bringing back the relaxing, but very competitive, page count challenge.

Since it's all about page points, any book counts!


Well, of course we will give you plenty of opportunities to get bonus points!

If you read a book that fits the following below you will get this number of bonus points:

- Book that has 8 words in the title (any edition works) → 8 pts
- Book that was published in August (any year) → 8 pts
- Book that has a 8 in the page count → 8 pts
- Book that was published on the 8th day of ANY month → 16 pts
- Book that was published in a year that ends in a 8 ('98, '08, '18) → 16 pts
- Book that is #8 in a series → 16 pts
- Book that has the letters A, U, G, U, S, T in title (in any order) → 24 pts
- Book that has the letters A, U , G, U, S, T in series title (in any order) → 24 pts
- Book that has 'anniversary' in text (please include page number, or %, and the quote) → 24 pts
- Book that has a publication date with all 8's in it (e.g. August 8th, 2008) → 32 pts

For example, if you read the following book, 8 Sandpiper Way, you could post like this:

Review: add link
Buddy: add link if applicable
Pages: most rated (ex: this one would be 371 pages)
- Book that was published in August (any year) 
- Book that has a 8 in the page count (using this edition - 8 Sandpiper Way )
- Book that was published on the 8th day of ANY month (using this edition - 8 Sandpiper Way )
- Book that was published in a year that ends in a 8 ('98, '08, '18)
- Book that is #8 in a series
- Book that has 'anniversary' in text (please include page number, or %, and the quote) [pg. 9, "ever since the night of their anniversary dinner" ]

and you would receive 88 bonus points for that book.

The scores would also look like this:

Just a friendly reminder that bonus points are for the team, not individually.

This will be a team reading challenge, which will run from May 1st to May 31st. Winners will be announced on June 1st.

Teams will be split as evenly as possible. If you would like to be on the same team with anyone, please comment with who when signing up. Please make sure that they also sign up.

When signing up, please mention the number of books you plan on reading for the month of May. These numbers will be easier for me to make teams match up evenly.

For example,

Felicia - 10 books
Andy - 20 books
Aly - 50 books
Jennifer - 25 books

** You will not be penalized if you go over or under your number.**

Page Points

1 - 50 pages → 0.25 pts
51 - 99 pages → 0.5 pts
100 - 149 pages → 1 pt
150 - 249 pages → 2 pts
250 - 349 pages → 3 pts
350 - 449 pages → 4 pts
450 - 549 pages → 5 pts
550 - 649 pages → 6 pts
650 - 749 pages → 7 pts
750 - 849 pages → 8 pts
850 - 949 pages → 9 pts
950+ pages → 10 pts

Buddy Reads will DOUBLE your points.
BOTM will TRIPLE your points.

Teams are UP!

Names were based off of 8th anniversary gifts.

The traditional eighth wedding anniversary symbol is bronze or pottery. Tourmaline and tanzanite are the gemstones associated with the eighth wedding anniversary. There are two flowers associated with the eighth wedding anniversary: clematis and lilac.
