Between the Chapters Book Club discussion

Our main character Alex is nicknamed Empty Eyes by the press after she's seen walking out of her family home following the gruesome murder of her family. Why do you think that nickname is significant (enough to be the title!) and what do you think it means to have "empty eyes"?

I assumed it was supposed to mean she was also empty inside, without a conscience or without a soul. It would be very hurtful if this is what people were saying about you, especially if you're innocent!

I envision the flat eyes you picture on a sociopath who doesn’t experience emotion. But it also fits that it would be the same look as someone in shock, who is not processing what is happening. Agree it would be a very hurtful tagline.
