April 2023 Reading Relay

I have two books that are stubbornly slow.
Masters of the Word: How Media Shaped History from the Alphabet to the Internet by William J. Bernstein
and
The Mexican American Experience in Texas: Citizenship, Segregation, and the Struggle for Equality by Martha Menchaca
Both are dense and thought-provoking, leading to hours of writing in buddy read discussions. Both being worthwhile, I trudge on. I will have hours this weekend to devote to reading, thinking, writing.

I am far more easily reading Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson. The movie was a delight. The novel is more thoughtful about beauty--natural and artificial.

Currently reading:
Dogs of War, ebook — I want to finish this one this weekend.
Swordheart, audio — I want to finish this latest on the weekend of the readathon.
Fables Vol. 4: March of the Wooden Soldiers (Fables, e-comic — fairly long, but good so far. Maybe I will try to finish this one this weekend as well. I want to read the whole series, before my current free KU runs out.
I have some books lingering on my shelf: a long epic fantasy and two non-fiction audios. I‘ll see if I try to make some headway with them this week.
I am not planning ahead, this year is all about mood reading.

Started today 60% through both

This week I also want to read/listen to (I need to put these at the forefront so I don't forget about them! lol):

These will probably be read during the readathon but we'll see if I can fit in a couple throughout the week:

My TBR for this relay segment:
Her Fearful Symmetry
Hollow Kingdom
The Islanders
Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald
White Oleander
Homegoing
Update: I didn't finish any or these, but I made progress in 4 of them. I am trying to finish Hollow Kingdom in the 2nd relay segment, just to be done with it; I REALLY am still not into zombie stories, however much my sister loved this one.

Not a lot of pages. Busy at work and tired in the evening!
Ugh. We finally got a real rain storm, with hail unfortunately, and the area of my ceiling where I wondered if there was a bit of a slow leak over winter DEFINITELY has a leak now post-hail. So I may be shifting my reading priorities to bigger books (physically big) that take more shelf space so I can make room to consolidate my shelves & clear the area where the leak is.
