The Maid
question
How good is it?
The audiobook was great for understanding Molly as a character -- really thought the narrator brought out her uniqueness. I enjoyed listening to this book.
Listened to this on audio book and I can say i was gripped by the narration of the story I am pleased there are more books about Molly the maid have to add them to my booklist after getting through current reads.
The writing keeps you involved. Some events towards the end seemed forced but overall a good read.
I found it disappointing. I was very intrigued by an author giving a voice to someone with autism in a open and insightful manner. Unfortunately, it was a very surface level portrayal and showed Molly more as a naive and unintelligent character. It is an easy read but I think you will be disappointed if you read through the same lens that I did.
Loved it, flew through it in three days. Laughed out loud and was really immersed in the story all the way through.
I feel like this book can go so many ways with different people, as we can see in this discussion, personally I really enjoyed this book, but I can see how others wouldn't. Molly isn't to complicated and she knows what she likes and dislikes, after only reading a few pages I could paint a picture of her in my mind. She is a hardworking made, who loves to clean. The author did a lovely job.
I loved the book was a quick read and make me giggle with certain parts
I'm usually a hardcore crime reader, loving true crime, etc. But I really enjoyed this book. It was light and enjoyable. I liked Molly as a character. She's not complicated or unbelievable, but relatable to for many of us who like to be invisible and don't like the spotlight. We just want to live our lives.
I also listened via Audible and became intertwined in the story and the characters. I loved it!
It was really disappointing. Molly was written as if someone had simply copied a list of autism symptoms from the DSM and considered that a character profile... she has no specific personality other than that. The plot was very unfulfilling due to the ridiculous "twist."
I thought it was okay, but maybe not great. I didn't love it, but it was fun and interesting.
I loved it. I listened on audible & the narrator was perfect for Molly the maid. She got her quirkiness down perfectly
