Rose Paris | 174 comments I love books about strange houses as summed up here:

"houses (or similar things) whose interiors are vast, or even infinite. The archetype is that dream (you know, that dream) where you find a door in your house where there never used to be one, and beyond it you find room after mysterious (or familiar, or terrfiying) room."

I would like an updated list of these- have already checked out the odd architecture list so anything not here as well would be great https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

Llynnya | 131 comments Rose - Not sure if these are what you are looking for

This has a sentient library that adds/hides rooms and floors.
Spells & Shelves

I don't know anything about this book it showed up as a recommendation so I added it to my possible TBR list.
Flora Segunda

This has a sentient house and grounds but it isn't the main part of the story
Ritual Space

Charlotte Manor is a sentient Manor that provides food, changes layout when needed and more.
The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred, the Vampire Accountant

Robin D. Owens has the Celta series and each one has sentient homes.
Heart Mate

I will add more as I think of them if this is something like you are looking for.

Rose, you need to specify in your topic header what you mean by "vasty." Assume no one knows what an unfamiliar, unidentified word means.

These are definitely the kind of thing although I prefer adult book over YA. Thanks!

Sue Elleker | 1050 comments House of Many Ways by Diana Wynne Jones. You have to turn in certain directions to access different rooms. https://www.fantasticfiction.com/j/di...
And the Evenmere Chronicles by James Stoddard. https://www.fantasticfiction.com/s/ja...

Valerie (veegood) | 248 comments Moonheart might fit the bill

Len | 144 comments I suppose an unusual castle counts? If so Titus Groan, Gormenghast and Titus Alone by Mervyn Peake could be included.

Pamela Love | 1509 comments Gingerbread In case you're wondering, no, the strange house is not made of you-know-what!

Suzette Kath | 61 comments If you are looking for fiction. May I suggest The Castle Perilous Series by John DeChancie.

Laura Gómez | 4 comments I read in Spanish "La casa inundada" by Felisberto Something and it's a short novel about a flooded house. I'm not sure I liked the whole story, but I enjoyed the description of such a weird house.

MJ | 1613 comments The Ancient Future series.

Not the main focus of the books, but there are several ‘adjusting houses/buildings/complexes’ throughout.

Andrew Brooks (acb13adm) | 78 comments You may like The Changing Land . The residence is not the main subject, but is the main setting and definitely matches your quest. It is the residence of sorcerers and a godling that changes itself as the characters progress through it. Eventually turning itself from a castle to a house/mansion, it has a life and mind of it's own.
