I enjoyed this one! Not sure if I'll be rereading so soon, but I will definitely be following along in the group!

Giovanni Farotto (farotto) | 85 comments same for me. it's not my favorite Neville's, but it was fun anyway. I actually preferred Cunning Folk

Dawn | 191 comments Ah looking forward to this…I really liked the Ritual, well the first half anyway a lot! The dread of being lost in the woods and the psychological aspects of having friends being disappeared was excellent. Will jump in soon!

Michael J. (michaeljclarke) | 634 comments I read this in January and was impressed. I'll be interested in following the posts here and seeing what others think about it.
As an introduction to the folk-horror of Neville, it's a good start and a quick read. The Ritual remains my favorite of his works.
Here's my spoiler free review for anyone undecided about picking this up . . . . .https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I agree Michael, The Ritual is still my favorite followed by Last Days. I liked this one too.

Last Days was my favorite; I liked the first half of Ritual a lot!

Kelly B (kellybey) | 630 comments I’ll be joining in. I haven’t read this one yet. I think the last book I’ve read by Nevill was The Reddening, and that was several years ago.

lauren (crochetguevara) | 12 comments I've only read The Ritual and have been meaning to read more of his work. I'm taking this as my sign, I'm in!

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments Hey everyone! I started this a few days ago and can't wait to finish it over the weekend to discuss it with you all. I'm excited :-)

Rikki | 62 comments I read this book recently and I loved it. It is creepy, easy to read, and the ending was fantastic! Happy reading!

Chandler | 254 comments I liked Last Days and The Ritual but really didn't like No One Gets Out Alive. NOGOA was the last book I read of his so hoping this will be a palate cleanser. I'm glad people are enjoying it!

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments So far, so good! I wanted to finish this sooner but got busy with work, will shoot to have it done by this week :-)

MiniDee | 4 comments Work is stopping me from finishing. But I'm loving every bit of it

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments @Mini: LoL yeah, SUPER busy week for me too and haven't been able to read as much as I'd like but will try to finish this within the next day or two :-)

So far, so good!

Monika I finished I liked the story and I liked the mood - dark and unpredictable

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments I thought this was a decent read but definitely wanted a bit more horror and a crazier ending. It was okay but not anything extraordinarily scary for me.

Emmett (emmett13) | 67 comments This was one weird little book, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The ending was unexpected for me. I am still trying to wrap my head around (view spoiler) Everything else made sense to me and I liked how it all fit together.

It definitely brought to mind Ari Aster horror films.

lauren (crochetguevara) | 12 comments @Emmett that was my one question for the book!!! I really liked the story as well but did not understand the purpose of it. I love that you thought of Ari Aster. I was thinking a little bit Rosemary's Baby with fun cockney accents.

Emmett (emmett13) | 67 comments @Lauren- Glad I'm not the only one wondering then, haha. I did love reading the accents in the book; it really put you in the setting!

Dawn | 191 comments I enjoyed this nasty little tale! I felt the twist surprise about abuse was a good one. I do agree that the cover is very misleading as it was more of a psychological horror than a demon with burning eyes type of horror (in my opinion of course) and I do like psychological horror!

Amanda Bosch | 4 comments I loved this book, as I have loved all of Nevill’s books. It was weird, scary and volleys between tropes of broken marriage, abuse and female empowerment. The wonderful nods to goddess worship and folk craft were exhilarating. Nevill at his best.

Katie Hargrave (annaredreads) | 9 comments I liked this book, first one I ever read by Adam Nevill but I'm willing to read more. I really liked how it read like a movie. Anyone know what book by him I should read next?

DaniPhantom | 28 comments Thought it was decent, just not really scary?? Good little read regardless

Rebecca Mann | 9 comments I just finished reading it today and really enjoyed it! This is my third Adam Nevill book after Cunning Folk and The Ritual and I have loved all three, looking forward to reading more from this author!

Ian (RebelGeek) Seal (rebel-geek) | 426 comments I finished this a few days ago. I felt like it was semi-predictable, but I liked it. The way the author kept describing events that the MC wasn't aware of or couldn't see made it feel like a screenplay. I think this would make a great movie. I also think the movie would be scarier than the book was. 4/5 stars.

Paths and Pages, or just Em :) | 12 comments Eek, finally getting to this one! Somehow the month has gotten away from me, again :) I really enjoyed Nevill"s Cunning Folk, so I am hoping this will be a hit too. I have missed his writing!

Chandler | 254 comments Just finished this one - I liked it! I don't know if the afterword was included in anyone else's copies but it goes into detail about how he wanted to write a screenplay, he kept changing up drafts of multiple novels, etc. You guys are on the right track ;)

Nevill's bread and butter is definitely in folk horror. This is a short read but very engrossing and creepy. Lots of creepy folksiness. And yes, I was getting strong Ari Aster vibes.

Evie Tancredo | 19 comments I read this a couple of months ago just because so it was still very fresh in my mind. I thoroughly enjoyed it and agree with others who said it would make a good movie.

Paths and Pages, or just Em :) | 12 comments The afterword was an awesome feature, I love hearing about the process from the author and especially an author like Nevill! I enjoyed this story and can’t wait to pick another one from him to hopefully try very soon. Thank you everyone for such a great group read :)
