Silverpiper Why did you hate him?

message 2: by May (new) - rated it 5 stars

May I read the book in 2002 and i like it, but i don't like the sad ending. I love Jon Krakauer.

sublimosa Brandon, I was not particularly enamoured of Chris myself when I first read the book (which I thoroughly enjoyed). I've never seen the movie. I just want to say, check out more facts on Chris and his family before you judge too harshly. There is far more to the story than the book or the movie tells. One of Chris's sisters has written a book about the family situation. While I have yet to read her book, I've read follow up articles (one by Krakauer himself and I judged too soon and too harshly.
This doesn't mean I agree with what Chris did, it means I have a deeper understanding of his circumstances.

Shehani John The movie simply couldn't portray all the emotion that the book held.

Duane You can throw the book across the room while reading it and possibly not damage anything, but if you throw the TV while watching the movie it will get expensive.

Swapnil I have read the book after watching the movie though the movie is sad and the book is no different. I admired the movie more. As i think it did justice to the character. The music and the filming where something that i really like. Chris must have been a great dude and if he might have survived it i would have liked to read his books.

Duane Damitol... I just realized, with "E-Books", I would have to throw my laptop or Kindle or whatever, across the room if I got pissed off at Lame-Ass Chris. Which would also cost a bunch.

So only the print version of the book would be better than the movie, then.

Will Reeves In both I could not help thinking, What on earth makes him think he can do this? Hubris. It was like watching/ reading a Greek tragedy unfold that you know has a moral, just not sure what it is.

Duane Early onset schizophrenia.

That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
