good plan Penelope!
I have a copy of it in the compendium edition Our Ancestors: The Cloven Viscount, The Baron in the Trees, The Non-Existent Knight so will be joining in with this one - should be starting in 2 or 3 days' time after I finish Black Hawk Down (not G1000 cos non-fiction)

I am not a great fan of magical realism but thought this book was much more interesting than his Invisible Cities.
Finally finished this, it takes me longer to read books than it used to! Partly due to health stuff, but also because I discovered that slowing down my reading speed helps me appreciate good literature more deeply.
This was another rewarding, intriguing and delightful read. It has so many elements to it, from details of the new, strange world he chose to live in, to significant external events. Very glad that this was selected for the monthly read! Thank you Darren.

Sarah - so glad you enjoyed it so much, but don't thank me, thank the G1000 list and our group members for nominating/voting for it!
I nearly gave it 4 stars but felt it was a little too episodic for my liking, i.e. like the author had thought of all the potential issues (physical and mental) of a life in the trees, and had tried to address each one separately
