Sue Miz (suereads2030) | 23 comments one of the most disturbing dystopian books I've ever read
short yet powerful
and the frightful thing about it is, in a way, some events are slowly happening

Kandice | 4387 comments I don't know how many times I've read this, but many. I agree with Sue that as a society we inch closer to this all the time! Because no one is saying "Ban ALL books" people don't necessarily see the danger.

I don't think this is a spoiler, but I find it intimidating as a voracious reader and lover of books that I don't think I could memorize my favorite for posterity's sake. I guess needs must and all that, but I'm afraid if it was left to me my favorite, in the hands of my memorization skills, would be reduced to the plot, and that's just not literature. Or worth saving.

It is quite a challenge but if the chips were down I'm sure you would rise to the occasion Kandice... and so would the rest of us readers. Just not sure which book it would be.

Mine would absolutely be The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It's my very favorite and the one I have read the most times.

What would yours be? That should be a subthread! "What book would you memorize for posterity's sake in a 451 world?"

Mine would be Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

That's a real doorstopper, so quite a challenge!

Nick Iuppa | 4272 comments Believe it or not, the book that moved me the most recently was All the Light We Cannot See. I'd memorize that one.
