The day Shay Miller sees a young woman throw herself in front of a subway train changes her life forever. Shay is understandably traumatized by the event but she finds herself wanting to learn more about the woman. When she gives her statement to the police they tell her the woman's name was Amanda. Being a researcher by profession, Shay sets out to find out who Amanda was. It eventually leads her to Amanda's friends, two glamorous sisters named Cassandra and Jane. Lonely Shay clings to any scrap of friendship they show her and soon she finds herself in their inner circle. The sisters take Shay under their wings helping her with a makeover, new clothes, a new job and a new apartment, even though Shay feels a bit strange renting Amanda's old home. Little by little the sisters manage to make Shay look very similar to Amanda. Shay has no idea what she is caught up in but when she finally learns the truth it just might be too late.
I truly didn't know what was behind Cassandra and Jane's mission with Shay but it played out quite neatly as the suspense built throughout the book. I enjoyed this one.
