i'm a big fan of the All For The Game trilogy !

Tastes vary both as to a reader's tastes and a writer's style.

I'm an American boomer born and raised in rural Michigan who struggled for a good long while coming out so I have a soft spot in my heart for the works of Mark Roeder. He's prolific if not especially polished.

I was also incredibly struck by The Front Runner, and while it's a bit dated, it does hold up if you give it the benefit of thinking of it as historical fiction.

Heartstopper: Volume One was written by a woman with a gay brother who was lucky enough to have found the world's sweetest "soccer lad" for a boyfriend and the graphic novel is just as sweet as the Netflix series.

I haven't but then I'm into M/M romance and that one's F/F. I see there is a GoodReads giveaway active for Cleat Cute if you're interested.

it's not YA it's adult but it's about soccer (football) and a lesbian relationship. cleat cute I'm currently reading it and it's really good.
