Basgiath Bookclub discussion
Introduction Page
Hi! I'm Kirsten and I created this club. I was searching for a book club that focused on new fantasy (specifically romantasy) releases but wasn't having much luck. After reading Fourth Wing, I kept thinking of how fun it would've been to have read it in a group and discussed THAT ending during the first few weeks of its release. For that reason, my goal with this book club is to mainly pick books which are new releases -- not always, but most of the time!
I plan to create an online video-chat discussion, likely through Zoom, for the club too with no pressure to have cameras on or even to attend.
Favorite Genre:
Fiction/Fantasy
Favorite Read:
To Kill a Kingdom, Fourth Wing, Migrations
Favorite Fantasy Element:
Mermaids, Dragons
Current Read:
ACOTAR + I Must Betray You
Book that acted as your gateway into becoming a reader:
Twilight when I was younger, People We Meet on Vacation as an adult.
Book you most want to see made into a film or television show:
Now, Fourth Wing. Before, To Kill a Kingdom (HBO adaptions only, of course).

I just restarted my obsession with Books trough fourth Wing. Before I read “it ends with us” and I have to be honest it just isn’t for me.
My favorite Genre is Romantasy trough and trough ^^
My favorite read has to be Fourth wing and Izara ( a german fantasy Roman)
My favorite fantasy element is supernatural power like mind reading or air bending, i just love it.
Currently I’m deciding on what to read next, i feel like Acotar could be the thing but i’ not sure…
My gateway book was the german triology “Götterfunke” by Marah Woolf its about Gods on earth, but i don’t want so spoiler so if you’re interest in Enemies to lovers and stuff like Gods than just reach out and ill tell you more about it. Its literally Chefs kiss
Actually i don’t have a book i want to see as a movie because the movie is always worse than the books and i think i would be so disappointed

Hi Katha! So cool that Fourt Wing has kickstarted reading for you! It's also kind of restarted my interest in the Fantasy genre -- I used to love fantasy novels, but I had a hard time reading fantasy and watching fantasy at the same time (like the Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon TV shows), and I just never got back into it after I took a fantasy book break.
I've just started the ACOTAR series after Fourth Wing. I re-read Fourth Wing for a week after finishing it and I could tell that I was getting reeeeeally close to reading slump if I didn't cure my book hangover, lol. I've liked it so far! I'm on the second book. It isn't as epic as Fourth Wing, but it's a solid follow up to kind of cure the fantasy craving!

Favorite Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Romantasy
Favorite Read: ACOTAR will always have a place in my heart♥️ and Forth Wing, What Lies Beyond the Veil
Favorite Fantasy Element: Powers of any sort, Dragons, Vampires
Current Read: A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows
Book that acted as your gateway into becoming a reader: Harry Potter was on the the first series that really set me up for loving to read, Twlight was huge for me also!
Book you want to see made into a film: ACOTAR, Forth Wing! the dragons would be so cool to see!, From Blood and Ash

From Boston in the US.
Some of the first books that gave me my love for reading were Hatchet. The Narnia series. When I was in my elementary years. Then Twilight & 1984 as a teen. Then Dust Lands as a YA. And as an adult ACOTAR. I always go on these long periods of not reading but after ACOTAR I have been chasing this book high and I can truly say Fourth Wing has met that bar! It’s been over a week since I’ve finished it and it still consumes me 😅 it doesn’t help it’s all over book-tok. But I love that there’s a little group here to chat about it 🥰 I’m re-reading it now and I’m tabbing through it because this hangover is crazy. 🖤

My fav genre is DEFINETLY Fantasy!!!! I love me a mafia dark romance too but i normally stick to Fantasy when i wanna just binge read.
Picking my fav read is practically impossible so im gonna say.... the OUABH series, ACOTAR, TOG, Fourth Wing (obviously) and the Plated Prisoner series too!!
I love books about the Fae, its always been my fav part of fantasy. Fourth Wing was actually my first time reading about dragons in fantasy and its in my top fav now!!!
My current read is An Ember in the Ashes and a book that acted as my gateway into becoming a reader was definitely the Oksa Pollock series.
OUABH would be AMAZING as a TV show!!! but i know they probably would never do it justice:((((

Favourite genre: SciFi/Fantasy/Romance
Favourite read: Dragonfly, ACOTAR
Favourite fantasy element: Fae, witches, elfs
Current read: nothing (finishing my thesis) but I cant wait to read The Cruel Prince series
Book that acted as your gateway into becoming a reader: I think Narnia and Ranger’s apprentice when I was younger, ACOTAR now as an adult
Book you most want to see made into film or TV show: Throne of Glass series, Fourth Wing
Natálie

If i’m being honest, the only genre I read is Romantasy or Fantasy. My favorite book series are the ACOTAR books, The Plated Prisoner series, The Cruel Prince trilogy, and the Nightshade series. I am now adding Fourth wing to the list as well. As for my favorite fantasy element I would have to say fated mates, brooding fae men, and asshole werewolves. ( I was a wattpad girl for my teen years so the werewolf addiction is hardwired in me at this point)
Im currently reading Court of Ravens and Ruin, though it has started to drag so let’s hope I finish it
I have always loved books growing up, but I suppose the book(s) that hooked me when I was younger was the Nightshade series & then ACOTAR rekindled my love
As for books I would like to see on screen I can confidently say none. I feel like it would be too hard to accurately capture the universe in a way that would make me feel fulfilled lol

My favourite genres are Romantasy, Fantasy, and Crime.
My favourite read is probably Fourth Wing, Song of Achilles, and The Lovely Bones.
My favourite fantasy element would have to be fae and eleves!
My current read is the Six of Crows.
The book that acted as my gateway to becoming a reader would have to be the Harry Potter series from when I was younger.
I would love to see Fourth Wing and ACOTAR made into a film/tv series!
Also I'm trying to find people who are also completley obsessed with Fourth Wing so feel free to dm me if you want to talk! :)

Oh that is hard. I would have to say House of Night Series

I go by Lou as a nickname for privacy purposes! Sorry if that’s weird
I love fantasy so much and a really good mystery once in a while or a summer rom com, but fantasy takes the cake!
My favourite book is Pride and Prejudice!
Fourth Wing too I really can never pick one, and From Blood and Ash is probably tied with it!
My current read was Fourth Wing, I just finished it! I’m going to waterstones soon to pick something new up before I continue A Shadow in the Ember by Jennifer Armentrout!
The book that really set me off with reading is actually yhe Whatever After by Sarah Mlynowski when I was younger I was obsessed with the series lol
A book I would love to see made into a movie would be The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue I feel like it would be so heartbreaking to see on screen but so good!

My favorite genre is fantasy/fantasy romance/romantic fantasy!
My favorite reads so far have been FBAA/FaF series, ToG series, The War of Lost Heart series and Fae Isles series.
My favorite fantasy element would be any type of magic wielders (i.e. fae, witches, demons) vampires, and dragons!
I am currently reading Kingdom of Ash, the last book in the Throne of Glass series. I have absolutely loved this series!
The book that got me out of my many years long reading slump is From Blood and Ash. I read it at the beginning of 2023 and have been hooked on reading since.
I definitely want to see the FBAA series made into a TV series/movies. It has so much potential to be amazing! And of course, having a real life Casteel wouldn't hurt anything!

The book that got me into reading was probably Harry Potter or the Deltora Quest series as a kid!
I would love to see a film adaptation of the book Song Of Achilles.

Favorite Genre: I read pretty much anything and everything, but I'm also in book clubs focused on the YA genre and the science-fiction/fantasy genres. I also read a lot of children's picture books just because they're fun!
Favorite Read: Too tough to choose! I've read a lot of great books over the years. Books that quickly come to mind: the Red Rising Saga; Murderbot Diaries; The Poppy War trilogy; Mexican Gothic; the Grishaverse; Throne of Glass series; The Broken Earth trilogy; Legendborn series; Seafire trilogy; Iron Widow series; and anything by Naomi Novik, Brandon Sanderson, or Madeline Miller.
Favorite Fantasy Element: magic, especially if the system is cool or makes logical sense; heroic adventure; relatable themes; strong female characters
Current Read(s): (1) The Golden Enclaves by Naomi Novik; (2) Dark Age by Pierce Brown; (3) The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Shrefer; (4) The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent
Book that acted as your gateway into becoming a reader: I learned to read with Dr. Seuss books, specifically One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. As a child, I read through almost all of Madeleine L'Engle's novels, The Baby-Sitters Club series, and Michael Crichton's novels. I also remember brushes with the Animorphs series and the Magic Tree House series. But anything that caught my interest was fair game.
Book you most want to see made into a film or television show: Throne of Glass; The Fifth Season; Red Rising; Legendborn; Skyward; The Poppy War; and, honestly, I thought Fourth Wing would be an excellent film or television show.

I'm so happy that this group exist. I'm desperate to discuss Forth Wing book with everyone. I'm absolutely obsessed and can't wait for Iron Flame.
Favorite Genre - Romance. And now, after reading Forth Wing - Fantasy
Favorite Read Where the crawdads sing; Veronika Decides to Die; Forth Wing; Little Woman;

Book you most want to see made into a film or television show One and only - Forth Wing!

Favorite genre: Romance, fantasy, romantasy, thriller
Favorite read: Fourth Wing( of course); The Once Upon a Broken Heart triology (incomplete); the AGGGTM series
Current read: Fourth Wing ( halfway throught), ACOTAR (1st book)
Book that acted as your gateway to becoming a reader: I started reading at four years old, I remember reading a very short 150 something page book by Holly Webb, I can’t remember the title, it was the book that got me into reading originally but I slipped into a reading slump that costed me half a year/ a year of reading. But since I picked up a book at the start of 2023 I haven’t stopped reading intensely.
Book that you want to see as a film or television: Of course Fourth Wing is also present here along with the Once Upon a Broken Heart series, I am acting like they’re the only books that exist for me, I love them so much

- Favorite Fantasy Element: magic, strong female characters, multi-verses
- Current Read: Caraval series, The Priory of the Orange Tree
- Book that acted as your gateway into becoming a reader: I always enjoyed reading, but I had definitely lost interest until recently, so this renaissance can be attributed to long commutes (Audible) and my brother suggesting the Red Rising, my book club taking me in places I wouldn't have previously dared, and most recently the ACOTAR series.
- Book you most want to see made into a film or television show: Assuming budget is not an issue and I get my dream cast, let's go Fourth Wing, ACOTAR, or Red Rising

Something about me: I looove movies, tv-shows, books, sport, having fun with friends, motorbikes etc.
My favorite genre: Fantasy, romance, horror, thriller
Favourite read: there are a lot tbh.. But in the last few months Fourth Wing, Sorcery of Thorns, The shadows between us.
Current read: The prince of deamons (halfway through)
Boom that acted as your gateway into becoming a reader: Hmmm.. I'm not sure, I've always loved to read, to escape reality into a new fantasy world. But I would say the Harry Potter books would be the first books I was really in love with.
P.S. You can write me if you want to discuss some books we both read. <<33

Favorite Genre: fantasy romance is my #1, but I also enjoy sci-fi and romcoms as well.
Favorite Read: my favorites this year would have to be the Blood Grace series by Vela Roth (I can not recommend this series enough and I still don’t know how it hasn’t gone viral yet!), the Crowns of Nyaxia series by Carissa Broadbent, and of course, Fourth Wing.
Favorite Fantasy Element: magic! Characters having interesting and/or lethal powers is a sure way to hold my interest. I also love anything with fae/faeries or vampires.
Current Read: I just finished Fourth Wing and am about to start House of Beating Wings by Olivia Wildenstein.
Books that acted as your gateway to becoming a reader: I have been a reader for as long as I can remember. But I would have to credit the Harry Potter series for leading me down the road of fantasy. ACOTAR reignited my love of reading and fantasy as an adult.
Books you want to see made into a film or television show: I am naturally excited for the ACOTAR series to be turned into a TV series, but I don’t really think about the books I read being turned into movies or shows. I usually enjoy book to film adaptions, but I always prefer the book and how it played out in my head.

My favorite genre is defenetly romantasy and good dystopia books (I don‘t know if this really is a genre or not)
My favorite read of all time is the fault in our stars (the first book i really cried about) and of course the Harry Potter series
My favorite fanatsy elements are currently dragons and I like everything that is about magic or mates that are bonded
My current read is obviously fourth wing I can‘t get over and this is why I started the ACOTAR Series and I really love it so far although I am still hating a bit on Nesta (I am now reading ACOSF)
My Gateway into becoming a reader back then were the Twilightsaga and Harry Potter. After not Reading for many years I now started again with twisted love and fourth wing brought me back here:)
I would really like to see ACOTAR as a series.
I Hope my english from school 7 years ago wasn‘t sooo bad;)

I decided to join and make here new friends, so I'm always open for discussions about the books we all love!

RED RISING

My favorite genre is fantasy, but I also enjoy contemporary romance. (Romantasy works, too. Haha!)
It’s so hard to pick a favorite… probably ACOMAF.
My favorite element is probably the world building. Reading is like a mental vacation for me, so to be able to “escape” reality to an entirely new world is something truly special.
I just finished Iron Flame… Like, whoa! (Support group, anyone?) Next up: Ruin & Rising.
I like to joke that being a “Disney Kid” is what made me a fantasy lover, but I also had a weird love of vampires… (like a lot of us millennials… haha!) I think the book that got me started down this reading path was probably “Look for me by Moonlight” by Mary Downing Hahn.
I’d LOVE to see the Sarah J Maas universe come to life on the screen… Like Marvel, only with TOG/ACOTAR/CC. I’m excited for Fourth Wing though, too.

Hi Laura, sounds like we have a lot of book interests in common. Red Rising was my gateway book into Audiobooks and have seriously never looked back...although I'm so down with ebooks and good ol' printed copies.
Here are some of my all-time favorite fantasy book recs that I think you might like if you haven't checked them out yet: Either Age of Myth or Theft of Swords by Michael J. Sullivan; The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss; The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson.

My fave genres include romances (fantasty romance, comedy romance), Fantasy, Historical Fantasy, Fiction and Sci-Fi (think outlander!)
My current fave read is fourth win to be honest, its captured my attention very well and got me back into reading. My love for fantasy started when I was in HS reading the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard (I was 17-18, Now i'm 24 lol a while back!)
My favourite fantasy element is abilities for sure, hence loving fourth wing and red queen!
Currently reading Iron Flame as is everyone else lmao
Like I said earlier, Red queen was my gateway into reading. After my hiatus I started reading Tessa Bailey books which got me into the habit again but Fourth wing really brought me back to fantasy.
Outlander was my all time PLEASE MAKE A SHOW book and when they did I was in love. They did that SO WELL!
I am so happy to have joined my first goodreads group, excited to chat more!

I don't have a favorite fantasy element, I just enjoy it all.
The current read(s) is Iron Flame and Caraval
The books that got me enjoying reading when I was younger was the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. They still hold a special place in my heart.

Currently I’m reading shatter me. I started the book today and I only read five pages but I already love it. A half year ago I read the German translation of shatter me and I liked the story but not the translation so I’m reading it now in English.

I finished Fourth Wing and Iron Flames a week or so and I absolutely love these books. SO excited for the the upcoming books for this series. I hope Rebecca Yarros doesn't take to long to write these books because I just can't stop thinking about this.
My favorite genre has changed over the years but I love Romantasy/Romance (with smut in it hehe) and Mystery.
My favorite read has to be The Twilight series, Harry Potter series, A Series of Unfortunate of Events, Fourth Wing series and The Serpent and The Wings of Night series.
My favorite fantasy elements are dragons, vampires, magic system, and fae. (This many change since i do like to explore different elements)
My currently reading/listening to A Court of Thorn and Roses and The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King.
The books that acted as my gateway into becoming a reader was The Boxcar Children, A Series of Unfortunate of Events, The Magic Tree House book series and what really got me to switch to more fantasy was Happy Potter series.
The book that I most want to see made into a film or television show would have to be as of right now Fourth Wing. I really hope amazon does a great job with this.
I recently made good reads account to reach out to meet and make friends with other readers that have the same taste has I do. I love to talk about books but my husband isn't into romantasy books and my friends are all gamers and they don't read or they don't read much. I would like to meet people and just go all out and talk about the smut scene the romance the enemy to lovers scene and possibly theories?
My DMs are always open. Let get into the dirty detail about our favorite books. :D
