The Lesser Dead by Christopher Buehlman The Lesser Dead is the second book chosen by members for the July Group Read. Excellent choice!

Remember to use spoiler tags as you discuss the book so the story isn't ruined for others.

Have a great and scary time.

Ash | 90 comments I've already read this one, and actually was inspired to read it because it was voted on in previous months. I had mixed feelings on it, but am curious to see what others think. If anyone likes audiobooks, this one is narrated by the author, and he does a great job with it.

You will love it, Marie! I am going to do a re-read of this - it's one of my favorite Vamp tales from one of my favorite authors. :)

Heather Eckert | 3 comments I am getting ready to start this and saw there is a podcast based on this book. I thinks I will read the book and then listen!

Giovanni Farotto (farotto) | 85 comments I read it some time ago
I didn't like how it ends

message 14: by Hayley (new)

Hayley | 82 comments Y'all, this was so much fun! I love trashy vampires. Why aren't there more of them? Can anyone recommend any other vampire books where the vampires are... not-so-classy?

Also wow, it got a lot creepier than I anticipated! Scariest vampire book I've read since 'Salem's Lot.

Ashley Johanson | 22 comments Wow, this book has gone way over my expectations. I loved it.

Nick Vallina (MisterGhostReads) (mister_ghost) | 14 comments I'm excited to start this soon. I LOVE Between Two Fires so I'm stoked to read another boo by Buehlman.

message 17: by Aimee (new)

Aimee | 19 comments Just started the audiobook this weekend and I’m hooked with that nitty gritty New York feel and accent! Can’t wait to see where the story leads, I’m digging the writing style so far.

message 18: by Victor (new)

Victor | 22 comments Just finished this - so good. Spectacular ending. Among my favorite authors right now; I find his writing style to be engaging, refreshing, and smart. May not be everyone's cuppa, but just wanted to share how much I enjoyed this one!

Denis (deez_bookish_adventures) (denis_lamontagne) | 34 comments Yes, I agree with all of the praise for this book. And Buehlman's narration in the audio book is outstanding! It is exactly as it is intended to be heard by the author.
I have listened to all of his self narrated books and they are all great!

Netanella | 572 comments I'm behind on my reading this month, but I'm very much looking forward to this book. I loved "Between Two Fires" so I'm expecting fireworks for this one!

Denis (deez_bookish_adventures) (denis_lamontagne) | 34 comments I just finished up and it is still one of my all time favorites. The Coda chapter is just perfection!

Sarah ♡ (let’s interact!) (bookishwelshie) | 80 comments I’m so late to the party but I have this on my Kindle already and am in the mood for a vampire story so will be starting it when all my current reads are done 🧛🏻‍♀️ also love that Our Wives Under The Sea is looking to be one of next month’s reads because I have a copy of that on my shelves since release waiting to be read too 😅 this group motivates me !!

message 23: by Netanella (new)

Netanella | 572 comments Just finished. Simply amazing. I agree with Denis, the Coda chapter kicks you in the ass.

message 24: by Monika (new)

Monika It wasn't typical book concerning the topic of vampires. I liked the idea that it was a little bit like post-apo and vampires in one. I enjoyed this book.

message 25: by Tom (new)

Tom Mathews | 144 comments It looks like I'm bringing up the rear with this one. I just finished listening to the audio version of this this morning. For most of it I thought it was a solid 4-star read but the ending changed everything for me, making a pretty good vampire tale into my all-time favorite book about blood suckers. To top it off, the audio was narrated by Christopher Buehlman himself. Many thanks to whoever nominated this book.

Tom, I absolutely agree with your comment! The book was damn solid, and then the ending knocked it into extraordinary land!

Char | 17459 comments This is one of my top 5 audios of all time.

Sarah ♡ (let’s interact!) (bookishwelshie) | 80 comments Finished this one just now and WOW that ending! I’m still shocked but thinking back through the narrative it makes perfect sense!
