So there's nothing in Sharp Ends that follows up with those folks, then? That makes sense though... I've been meaning to finally..."

Re Sharp Ends (view spoiler)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2348 comments Quite a bit to ponder. Nice insight, Anne-Marie...

Nirkatze, the stories were definitely worth reading but there wasn't a whole lot that furthered the big picture plots...

Speaking of which, I see that Abercrombie recently released this: The Great Change.

It's in Kindle and special order from Sub Press.....damn, I should have ordered the kindle yesterday when there was a double points deal...

I forgot about that book! Abercrombie is one of the few I would be willing to pay $6 for less than 100 pages lol

You guys should check out Michael R. Fletcher... he came up recently, in Fantasy News, with the release of A War to End All, the conclusion to the Manifest Delusions series...

That's a bonkers series, and I might do a re-read, but not until War to End All gets audio, like the first 2 entries have... would be nice if Swarm and Steel got audio, too, since it's a side novel in the same world...

I've been thinking about re-reading Ghosts of Tomorrow recently, which is a sci-fi post-apocalyptic standalone, I think I'd call it, with warring AIs...

And I haven't read/listened to Black Stone Heart trilogy or Norylska Groans...

Nirkatze | 21171 comments Hm... Norylska Groans is the only one my library has... if you set a date, I'll join...

All his ebooks are on Kindle Unlimited, so you can get audio for 7.49, if that's palatable, and there's something you want to read that's NOT in your library...

Norylska Groans works too, as an intro... I read the blurb forever ago, and this it's got another interesting magic system...

Ann-Marie | 5529 comments Sounds good to me, I would not be mad at reading these.

Manifest Delusions is pretty much exactly what the name suggests... a world where though shapes reality, and crazy people have more conviction in their thoughts (since sane people question their beliefs more?)... that and religious fervor leading to groupthink...

Norylska, I think has a magic system where actions seep into buildings/inanimate objects, and have consequences?... people kinda believe that in the real world with haunted houses and desecrated/consecrated grounds...

And I don't know much of anything about Obsidian Path... the blurbs sound like them movies with silent main characters and alot of combat, or the RPGs where the MC has amnesia and maybe doesn't talk (Breath of Fire)...

Ghosts of Tomorrow, my review describes as Terminator/Skynet, if the human consequences were more incidental to the plot, rather than the focus...

Nirkatze | 21171 comments I don't have KU--I hate the way Kindle formats things and refuse to give Amazon more money... but I'll add those to my audible wishlists and keep an eye out for sales...

Honestly, the Little People chapters are some of my favorites.. the way Abercrombie can get into these characters heads like that... Just perfection lol

I'm loving these detailed posts Ann-Marie! Jogging my memory even though I only read it a couple weeks ago, I just hadn't made the time to come comment. A real shame on my part because this was probably my favorite from last month! (view spoiler)

LOL I agree wholeheartedly that (view spoiler)

That's good to know, because the more I read in this world the more I want!! And especially after this ending!

Yeah the French Revolution was definitely something I was thinking about here. And a bit of the Russian Revolution as well!

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) | 5115 comments I've been wanting to read Fletcher for a while now! Count me in if I can fit it! :)

I know, right? Who saw that opinion coming from me? lol

Nirkatze | 21171 comments LOL I definitely had the same thoughts, re: Ann-Marie's Most Hated List.

Really fun reading your thoughts Emily! I love it when folks come in a bit after the rush to comment... gives a nice refresher all over again...
