Ed | 6 comments Trying to follow what I think is the proper procedure and based on a communication from Rivka I wonder why Maynard Mack continues to be listed as the primary author and William Shakespeare not as the primary author, if that is what the entry noted below indicates. If it doesn't, my apologies and I will need to read into the indexing scheme here a bit more.

Every one of Shakespeare's plays that is published has an editor unless it is somehow an "as is" copy of the First Folio or First Quarto. Shouldn't he be listed as the primary author on every edition of each of his plays?

This book is a rewrite of the Shakespearean play, not just a reprinting. No?

No, it is "Henry IV Part One" by William Shakespeare, with some of the critical essays revised plus a few new ones. Here is the amazon.com listing for this book:

I stand corrected. However, judging by the Google Books preview, the volume contains far more than the play itself. It starts with quite a bit of info about Shakespeare himself (and his era), and in followed by almost as many pages of essays as the play comprises.

Nonetheless, your point stands.

Ed | 6 comments Many thanks--I was probably not making my point as well as I could/should have but I am still a bit new (less than a week) in working with the librarian group.
