Vi | 43 comments Hi team, I've added another sheet where we can note down the books based on the word. It should help us with more clarity. I've shifted most of the books (completed) to the sheet. Could you please help to take a look and correct if there is a mistake? It would also help if we could add our books there so we know what letters are needed.

@Catsalive: I'm not sure how Murder at the Dolphin Hotel fits as we are supposed to look for title/series/author name only. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey team!

I see that a couple of people haven't checked in yet. Since it's a long holiday weekend, happy 4th to everyone that celebrates it today, I will send out friendly reminders to everyone who hasn't checked in yet tomorrow morning.

Cool, thanks...I just added it :)

message 24: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments @Vi, I used the A (as Catsalive said in message 23) but see that you had a book planned for it...The Fine Print. I don't want to step on any toes, so I didn't remove your book on the Note Books tab yet. I wanted to let you know and when it's removed I'll add mine.

message 25: by Vi (new)

Vi | 43 comments Hey Vicki, you could remove mine and add yours. Mine can be banked if needed for later. Sorry, I didn't connect the message to the alphabet.

message 26: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments No worries, thanks :)

message 27: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5987 comments Hey, so I can really only go on Goodreads and write reviews/post in the review thread once a week, so if anyone sees one of my books that fits somewhere, feel free to post it.

message 29: by Catsalive (last edited Jul 22, 2023 08:54PM) (new)

Catsalive | 1145 comments Just a reminder to look at the puzzle on the spreadsheet - where letters crossover, one book works for two words.

message 30: by Catsalive (new)

Catsalive | 1145 comments We need

E E U Y Y

Catsalive | 1145 comments Tesseract wrote: "thank you for posting for me! it's always the vowels left :(
I just noticed that Ashlyn's A Need So Beautiful by Suzanne Young should work for one of the Ys."

Cool. We're down to

E U Y

message 32: by Catsalive (last edited Jul 23, 2023 03:49PM) (new)

Catsalive | 1145 comments Korean food that Peter loves is not yakult, apparently, so we've been working on the wrong letters. Maybe it's YOGURT instead, although YAKULT is Korean yoghurt.

message 33: by Catsalive (new)

Catsalive | 1145 comments Don't put any more books for review until we get this sorted out with Alaina, otherwise we'll be completely muddled.

message 34: by Catsalive (last edited Jul 24, 2023 04:13PM) (new)

Catsalive | 1145 comments Hmm, well onward we go.

E O U remaining

message 35: by Catsalive (new)

message 37: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5987 comments Did we see that we can use the first letter of any word in the title?

message 38: by Vi (new)

Vi | 43 comments Yes, we can use first letter of any word in the title.

I should have time this weekend to finally review the books I've read recently and then I'll get them added to the spreadsheet.

Due to a weird bug in GR, thank you Melanie for letting me know, please do the following to figure out your page count:

Q: Here's an example with 11/22/63 by Stephen King.

https://www.goodreads.com/work/editio...

Sorting by Number of Ratings shows the most popular edition is a German Paperback edition published by Heyne (with 315 ratings) which has 1,055 pages.

But the actual most popular edition is the US Hardcover edition published by Scribner (over 421k ratings) with 849 pages.

The correct amount of points would be 8 points (for 849 pages) but right now it would be awarded 10 points (for 1,055 pages) because the sort is broken.

A: Using the same book in your example, when using the search bar for '11/22/63', you click on the book, the book page comes up - let's use that number instead.

So, the number that came up was 928 pages.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

message 41: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5987 comments I've posted all my books that I could do the Review thread and added the rest of my banked books to the spreadsheet.

message 42: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments I have been without the Internet since Friday (10 days ago) and finally have it back, but not sure for how long.

I have books to review and add, but most letters are claimed but on the review thread it shows letters we still need, so I posted 2 and then saw somebody else claimed them: Vi (2D letter A) and Ashlyn (2D letter R).

If you've read your books already, I can remove mine. I didh't see them in the review thread but could've overlooked them, plus I don't want to step on anyone's toes.

message 43: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5987 comments If I haven’t posted, free to remove mine. I didn’t claim any, and thought I had all the books that worked added.

message 44: by BabyLunLun (new)

BabyLunLun | 1256 comments Ah just now I sync our spreadsheet with what Alaina posted in the review thread. Some books are on the review thread but its not updated in the spreadsheet

Should be ok now

message 45: by Ashlyn (new)

Ashlyn | 5987 comments I’ve also finished and reviewed these ones if they fit anywhere:
Hunting for a Highlander (Highland Brides, #8) by Lynsay Sands Doctor Who The Wheel of Ice by Stephen Baxter The Takeover (The Miles High Club, #2) by T.L. Swan

message 46: by Vicki (new)

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 5341 comments OK, thanks, BabyLunLun, sometimes I get confused because of conflicting posts, etc.

I’ll be camping this week, so won’t be able to ad them to the spreadsheet until I get back.

Ashlyn | 5987 comments Vicki wrote: "OK, thanks, BabyLunLun, sometimes I get confused because of conflicting posts, etc."

I actually completely forgot that this wasn’t a monthly challenge, so just put whatever doesn’t fit for the current puzzle in the banked tab.

message 49: by Vi (new)

Vi | 43 comments I'm sort of confused.. because I posted after I checked the spreadsheet and then posted in the review thread. It's hard otherwise to keep track of the books. I'll also add the books I finished in the banked sheet in a couple of days.

message 50: by BabyLunLun (new)

BabyLunLun | 1256 comments Hey everyone , make sure you include the location of the word when you post the review. So that its easier to track

If not Alaina will put at whatever position in the crossword puzzle.

Don't worry haha, I will make sure its both sync at the review thread and spreadsheet each time
