~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments Mk! What ideas did you have?

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments I prefer more realistic settings just for the sake of simplicity, but if you want to do fantasy, we can do that too! And yeah, you can be female! I personally like to play guys but I could also play a girl if you wanted me to.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments Sure, sounds good to me! Do you want to kick us off, or should I?

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments I prefer to jump into and let the characters develop as we go on, but if you’d like to make them first, that’s also okay!

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments Mk! I’ll type one up rq then :D

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments Name: Cassius
Age: 25
Occupation: Police officer
Appearance: https://pin.it/Suh91xS

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments Sure! Go ahead :D

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments Everything seemed fairly calm. It had been a normal day for Cassius so far, with mundane traffic stops, and he assumed this next one would be no different. He stepped out of his car, tapping his fingers on the taillight of the Suzuki RENO he’d just pulled over on the street right outside of the supermarket and approaching the driver’s side.
The window rolled down, and his stomach sank.

The quiet of the late afternoon was broken by a gunshot, a scream, and then a few more gunshots. The car sped off, and Cassius fell to the ground, clutching the two bullet wounds that were now in his lower stomach. He’d have tried to shoot at the car as it drove away, but it didn’t work.
He grabbed his radio and immediately called for help, trying to ignore the pain and the way his vision was blurring at the edges.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He’d seem alarmed at first, but as soon as he realized what she was wearing, he calmed down. He’d do his best to keep his eyes open, blinking to stay focused on her. “How bad is it?” He asked in a strained voice. “Am I about to die? God- God, please….” He took a shuddering breath, trying to sit up. He was starting to panic, eyes darting around. Some of the people on the sidewalks had stopped to watch or even film, which only freaked him out more.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “It’ll be hard to get reimbursed if I’m dead.” He snaps, groaning as she put more pressure on the wound. He clenched his jaw and closed his eyes, tilting his head back. His fingers felt like they were buzzing, and he started to get tired, quickly becoming less alert. “I always thought I’d at least live to thirty.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He’d reluctantly open his eyes with a half-hearted smile. “Oh, come on, I was in the middle of a perfectly nice conversation with God.” He looked down at his wounds, and his face went pale. He looked away, and tried again to sit up once the EMS got there.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments Cassius waves dismissively, but does his best to stay awake. The officer that steps out of the new car immediately runs over to him, talking to him in a low voice for a few moments before turning back to Kara as the ambulance drives away. She looks at all the blood on the ground with mild horrors and disgust, pulling out a notepad and pen and making some notes.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Oh no, not the groceries.” She raises an eyebrow. “Just give me a run down of what you saw happen, and a way to contact you, just in case. “ The officer puts a hand on her hip, her face stern but not mean.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments She’d nod along and write everything down, occasionally asking questions, but mostly just listening. “Well, I can’t promise you that, but I’ll do my best. I can’t really control the media though. Just stay safe, yeah?”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “What else do you want me to say?” She asks with a slightly annoyed look. “I’m just trying to get out of here and back to the station. Like I’m sure you’re trying to get home and out of those bloody clothes. Excuse me for keeping it short and sweet.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Yep. You’re off the hook, at least for now. See ya.” With that, she checks her notes, gets in her car, and drives away.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments ((Do you wanna do a little timeskip to next time Cassius and Kara see each other?))

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments ((Sure! That or he could just happen to see her when he’s being discharged from the hospital or something, whichever you prefer :D))

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He’d just been discharged, and was planning to walk the few miles from the hospital to his house since he didn’t have anyone to come pick him up. As he was walking out past the front desk, though, he noticed Kara. He did a double-take when he recognized her, and ran his hand through his hair to tame it, walking up and leaning against the front desk. “Y’know, I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before.” He says with a playful grin.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He laughed. “I know. A surprise, right? I thought I was a goner for sure… probably would have been if it weren’t for you. Thanks for that whole thing.” He stayed focused on her as he spoke, being naturally a very attentive person. He looked like a bit of a mess, but that was to be expected after more than a week in the hospital.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “That’s fair, but still. I know nurses are already overworked, I’m just glad that you decided I was worth the extra time.” He puts his elbows on the front desk and leans forward a bit. “If there’s anything at all I can do I return, I’d be more than happy.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He seemed surprised for a moment, but then smiled and nodded, backing up to let her leave. “I think I can do that. What time do you work until?”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He waved as she walked away, then checked the time on his watch. It was already late in the day, at about 5:30, which gave him enough time to jog home. He quickly saved her number into his phone and started on his way. He hadn’t at all expected to be going out tonight, but he was glad he’d have something to do other than just sit around and watch TV.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments At a little after six, Cassius realized the time and picked up his phone, sending her a text. “Hey, just realized I never caught your name. I’m Cassius.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “At least I’m not bleeding this time!” He texts back. “Are you free tonight? I’ve got nothing to do so if you want to meet up somewhere we can.” He sets down his phone, also getting in the shower, taking a few minutes to wash off before getting out. He ties his towel around his waist, starting to blow-dry his hair like he usually does in the mornings.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “How about dinner or a movie?” He asks, brushing out his hair and pulling it back in his normal half-up half-down style. He applies some chapstick as he walks over his dresser, opening it and starting to sift through for an outfit.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Sounds great! What kind of food do you like?” He picks out an outfit as he speaks. Pale, lightly distressed jeans and a white tank top. He also gets out a black button up shirt with dark green designs and puts it on over top, letting it hang loosely off his shoulders as he puts on a few thin gold bracelets and a matching necklace. He also wears a small golden stud earring in his left ear. A black leather belt that matches his combat boots is the last thing he puts on- his jeans fit well enough that he doesn’t need it, but he likes how it looks.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Oh, I love Italian food too.” He looks in the mirror for a moment, does a little spin, then goes into his bedroom. Reaching into his closet for the large plastic container that held his colony of dubia roaches, he opened the lid and used a pair of feeding tongs to put a single roach into each of the tanks that held his ant colonies- he had three. He put the roaches away, washed his hands, and texted again. “Just a warning, I’m a bit more eccentric when I’m not bleeding to death.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Sounds good! When can you meet me there?” “And oh my Lord, you have a dog? That’s so cute. You have to show me pictures.” He smiles at his phone as he texts Kara, sitting down on the couch. He recognizes the place she’s talking about, and knows he can jog there in ten minutes.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “30 minutes sounds good! Can’t wait!” He sets an alarm on his phone for twenty minutes, so he knows when to leave.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments When his alarm went off, he grabbed his phone and keys, put on his shoes, and with a final check in the mirror, left his house and started to jog towards the restaurant. He noticed he was checking his environment more thoroughly than usual, and quietly scolded himself for being so paranoid. Still, though, he kept his pace quick the whole way to the restaurant.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Here too :)” He texted back as he got to the restaurant. He walked in and saw her, waving and putting his phone in his back pocket.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Awh, thank you!” He grinned, standing with a hand on his hip. “So do you. That color looks great on you!”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He chuckled. “Oh, that’s for sure. I just hope I look better than I did while I was bleeding out.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. “Well, I’m glad to hear that.” He thought for a moment before asking, “How long have you been a nurse for?”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “About six years now.” He smiled. “What made you want to be a nurse? Seems like a tough job.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He nodded as well. “That’s really cool. Probably a better story than mine.” He chuckled quietly. “My aunt is a police officer, and I always looked up to her. Never really grew out of that, so I followed in her footsteps. I’m glad I did, though.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments Following Kara and the hostess, he thought for a moment. “Well, I do wish I’d had a partner with me to chase that car after I got shot, but otherwise? Nope. I start working again next week.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Yeah, it’s a little quick, but I don’t mind.” He sat down across the table from Kara “I’d rather go back to work than stay home with nothing to do.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He laughed, waving dismissively. “Oh, you’re fine. Nurses work insane hours, I don’t know how you guys do it.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He leaned forward on the table a bit as he spoke. “Hmm… well, I have three pet ant colonies. I got into antkeeping as a little kid, it’s surprisingly interesting. I also have a thing for fashion, never had a chance to get serious with that but I don’t mind.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He chuckled. “Yeah, not the most common pet. And I got into fashion when I was younger mostly because of my older brother, fell off in middle school because kids would make fun of me. Kind of picked it back up a few years ago, though.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Awh, thank you.” He blushed a bit, rubbing the back of his neck. He’d been a bit worried about his choice of outfit, so he was glad to hear that she liked it. “And what about you? What kind of things are you into?”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He grinned. “That’s adorable. What kind of dog do you have?”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments ((Yep! I’m alr, just been busy))

“Oh, he’s adorable.” He coos, taking a good look at the picture before continuing. “I love dogs, I’ve always wanted to adopt, I’ve just been forgetting to set aside the time. Or I could always start training to work with K-9 units.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments He chuckles. “Really? Well, that dog certainly knew what he was doing, sticking around someone as great as you.”

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Oh, well, I do try my best. I’m no Casanova of course, but I like to think I have at least a little bit of game. Even if that game includes getting shot.” He grins, running a hand through his hair. Making jokes at his own expense his always been a bad habit of his, and he silently scolds himself for it, but keeps his expression relatively unaffected.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “That’s good to know.” He laughs quietly. He’s also surprised at how well this was turning out- he hadn’t done this many times before, and had honestly expected to bomb it.

~Fish in a Birdcage… Vyuntspakhkite~ | 301 comments “Hm…” He flips through the menu a bit. “I might get the gnocchi, I’ve had it here before and it’s really good.”
