EVERYONE Has Read This but Me - The Catch-Up Book Club discussion

This begins our group discussion of our classic book selection, The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, nominated by Andi. Here you can comment, without spoilers, on any aspects of the book, either before, during, or after reading it.

One female character and she's very minor and a source of mockery. Just saying. I did like Badger, and the chapter about Pan. I didn't much like this as an innocent child, either. Not to spoil the enjoyment for you, but if you're not liking it, don't feel alone.

I am actually listening to this to help me sleep at the moment so may miss some of the storyline but it does have a charming cosy feel which makes it perfect for a nighttime book.

not sure what I am going to think of this book. I am a teacher so have heard this book mentioned plenty of times but never took the time to read it. Curious to see what I think about it when I am done.

I never read this as a child but had a very nice hard cover copy of it which I believe I received as a gift from my grandmother. Sadly it went missing and I so wish I could find it. In any case, I will finally read it. 🐸 🦡 🐀

If anyone's looking for a version with some very nice artwork, I highly recommend the one illustrated by Robert Ingpen. I think I would say that of pretty much any book he illustrated, but I really did enjoy his Wind in the Willows.

Been a while since I've read anything close to this. Fingers crossed for enjoyment.

The story is full of warm and abounds in the strengths of friendship though it does lack character and depth making one wonder how/why it is a classic.

This one is an old favourite for me, but I will try to reread it this month. I'm looking forward to it!

One of my favorite reads as a child. Read again in 2022. My favorite character is Mole. Not very fond of Toad although Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was one of my favorite rides at Disneyland!
