Quarter 3 short story read for July - September is Selected Short Stories by British author Virginia Woolf. Linked here is the Penguin Classics edition at 160 pages. You are not limited to this edition or the stories found within this edition, though! Please share which stories you're reading and your thoughts on them. Always try to keep posts spoiler free or hide your spoilers for others. :)

I'm planning to do this in August. I've not read her shorts except for the Kew Gardens, so, looking forward to the read.

Chad | 860 comments I recently read A Room of One’s Own and enjoyed it. I found it to be very powerful. I’ll get into a few more of her short works.

It is one of my favorites. Have read it multiple times. It's powerful piece of art.

I'm hoping to finish this challenge too.

The Bibliophile Doctor | 117 comments One question , can we read any short stories for this challenge?

Lumi | 23 comments Going to read A Haunted House and Other Stories (Vintage Classics). Woolf is one of my absolutely favorites so this is going to be fun! :)

Chad | 860 comments I just read Kew Gardens from the collection. Really lovely. I felt like I was sitting and people watching in the park.

At some point, maybe two years ago, I grabbed an ebook on Amazon of her complete works. I think it was a buck or two. Ashamed to admit that I’ve only barely dipped into it. I’ll make good use of it in the coming weeks and months.

The idea this quarter is to read short stories by Virginia Woolf. We are highlighting this particular collection of her stories, but you are welcome to read any short stories or collection of short stories by her. Please let us know which collection that you decide to read, if not this one, and which stories. We'd love to hear what you think of what you do read. This is similar to what Kathy has done by mentioning the ebook of Woolf stories she found on Amazon.

Oh okay great. I had downloaded a short story collection long time back on Amazon Selected Short Stories by Virginia Woolf it contains few short stories among which I am going to read the most famous ones which are
1. Kew gardens
2. The mark on the wall
3. An unwritten novel

Reading Woolf has always been a pleasure but for me, even after Woolf being my favourite her books need extra dedication and time. More than other books do.

I hope I could read these as part of this challenge as they have been on my reading list since a long time.

Ashley (lalaithan) | 3 comments I'm jumping in somewhat late. I found The Complete Shorter Fiction of Virginia Woolf at the library and I'm looking forward to reading some of the stories because I've never read Woolf.

message 16: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 2349 comments I hope you enjoy some, too, Ashley.

I've read quite a few stories in the collection A Haunted House And Other Short Stories. My two favorites are "Kew Gardens" and "The New Dress."

I finished this short story collection and liked it very much. Virginia never disappoints. Out of them, I loved Kew Gardens (my absolute favourite of the collection) , A Haunted House, and Lapin and Lapinova.

Since my books are a mess right now. I might try and find something online to read of hers. Piyangie I know I have a book with Kew Gardens in it but where right now?

Kathy E | 2349 comments I finished the stories in A Haunted House and Other Short Stories and enjoyed all of them. The way Woolf writes, I feel like I'm in the story.

I just finally got to post about the two shorts stories I read from Virginia Together and Apart and A Haunted House. Of the two A Haunted House was by far my favorite. I really felt like it was not really a haunting type read.
Woolf did a wonderful job with this one. Trying to figure out what the couple was missing and could not fine was a constant thought provoking on my part.

Nice thought Kathy and with this one, I can feel that as well!
