This is a unique book. It is almost in two half's. I really like rose at times. Other times I had a real hard time rooting for her. However the writing was wonderful! I will definitely read more of this author. A good engrossing read.

Roger - president of NBR United - (roger_presidentofnbrunited) | 1591 comments week 6 roll 2 Angel Elegy stand alone.
4 stars. Finished 4/28/15
Not your usual angel story. this angel is a pain submissive for an artist. This angel was reduced in power for loving another angel. As the angel is used with intent to inflict pain and humiliation it inspires the artist to higher levels of passion in his painting. The angel rationalizes this service by saying the art uplift humanity, and that he is a muse for it and the artist. but the angel is still unhappy he knows that his angel lover is somewhere out there with no power and no memories of what the angel's lover really is. The artist release the main angel and he goes on a quest to find his lover and restore them t their rightful place in heaven. All I have to say Is I hope the angel portrayed here are not the ones in heaven.

How to Train Your Dom in Five Easy Steps
3 stars, finished 4/27

This was a really fast read. Pretty funny at times. I liked the bit of rough/posh guy set up, but in the end it is a BDSM book which I just can't seem to understand.

Faithless (Grant County, #5) by Karin Slaughter
Finished: 4/28/15
Rating: ★★★★
This book was a good thriller. The plot is fast paced and I liked that it seemed to be more focused on the characters with less gore than in previous books. Lena's storyline and how her path intersected with Terri was interesting. I am looking forward to the last Grant County book and the spin-off series.

After 5 books, I'm invested in this family. The first book was very much like the old night time soap operas, like Dallas. It has since settled down a bit and is just a fluffy and somewhat dramatic update on the family. On its own, not 4 stars, but as part of a series I am happy to keep reading, I give it 4 stars.

4 stars.

this one was a great read. I like reading works about war world 2 time period. The author writes this era beautifully. It is set in Italy which is wonderful. It was hard to read at times just because of the subject matter. However you can help but root for Grace and want to know what is going to happen to her. I would read this author again.

A tough but good read. deals with drug abuse non con pimping out for a mother to get the drugs she needs and how a person can find love when being treated like that. would have rated higher if it wasn't so bleak but hopeful.

I love SEP's witty writing style. Gracie and Bobby Tom were likable characters and their romance was a little predictable but still very sweet. I enjoyed all of the playful banter between the two of them. I will definitely continue with this series and read anything else that SEP writes.

Bound for Keeps
3 stars finished May 4th

Like many, 3 star ratings covers a multitude of meanings for me. The surprised it was good enough for 3 stars, 3 stars I liked this, 3 stars I was disappointed in this.

The past few S.E. Jakes have been disappointments to me - -3 stars I wanted this book to be better rating. I think her books have wonderful book blurbs, but then the books fail to deliver. Now that I have re-adjusted my expectations, I am a happier reader. So for this book, I have the 3 stars I liked the book rating, instead of 3 stars I'm so disappointed.

This won't make sense to anyone else but me, but the end result is I am better pleased with my reading experience.

An enjoyable book set in Boston in the future with an interesting mix of fantasy, paranormal, romance, mythology and even a little bit of suspense. Cacy and Eli are paramedic partners who become romantically involved and have to overcome several obstacles to be together. Cacy has the power to escort souls to the afterlife that have been marked for death by the Kere. I really liked the whole premise of the Ferry family's powers, the Kere and the Fates. I empathized with poor Eli and how things turned out for him. I am looking forward to Galena and Declan's story in the next book but I hope Cacy and Eli make appearances in future books too.

Please see if you can. and if you can get a backup for SS they can use the free pass as I already suggested. thanks for the help Jenne.

I read a book start to finish yesterday that had the word thunder, so that could count for roll 8 week 1.

I have no other games right now and can easily read 2 books for each call for the next 2 calls.

If she can't, I'll let you know. I just posted in the discussion thread about a back up for him in SS, you're not playing both versions right? If not if you'd like to fill in for him there you can :)

message 185: by Susan A (new)

Susan A | 2091 comments I'm not doing both versions, but I don't think I'd want to do fill in both groups. If you don't get any takers in whatever timeframe you think is reasonable for the other group, let me know.

So...what happens for tonight's roll then? Do we have to skip it?

An interesting mix of sci-fi/mystery with a little bit of romance. I definitely got sucked into this strange world the author created. The book ended with the mystery resolved and the romance un-resolved. I have added book 2 to my TBR.

This book had just the right amount of angst - -enough to keep me reading, not enough to make me start rolling eyes. Although this book came to a satisfying conclusion, I think the author could do more with this couple.
