Today I am a bit busier with house hold tasks. Just made my first lentil salad. Pretty good. May like better for fall. . . .Tomorrow I settle in for long reading hours. So in!

I was on the road or busy all yesterday, so I'm only now working out my tbr for this week. I may just stack up all the books I have already started (a growing stack at the moment) and actually finish a few this week.

Did finish a physical book (Cards on the Table by Agatha Christie) and an audiobook (Troy by Stephen Fry).
I finished a few books this past sprint, including some that were actually on my tbr-
Pebble in the Sky
Lucifer's Hammer
Citizen of the Galaxy
Kiss Me, Deadly
The Twisted Thing
I also made progress in a few books from my 1st sprint tbr.
Roadside Picnic
The Eyre Affair
Tales of the Peculiar
I came across an audio version of Roadside Picnic, so I am listening to it as I make up my new tbr for this week's sprint.

I always loved logging my reading like this where you can see your progress as the covers change. :) I don't do it as much since we got away from the strict 24 hour readathon approach, but I may have to try a log like this again this coming readathon.

I am trying a reading sprint game today, one described to me by someone I met at a grocery store this past week. 🙂 You start each hour with a posted key word from a short list of possible key words, and pick your book for that hour based on the key word posted for that hour. So, if the key word is 'CAT', I could pick The Unchangeable Spots of Leopards, or a book with a cat on its cover, or one I happen to know has a cat in it, like some of the Elric novels that have talking panthers, or I could go with Cat as short for Catherine, or some other interpretation (Cat-ion, .and thus a book on chemistry, etc.)
My list of keywords is : Rice, Cook, Hot, Strand, Proud, Wet, Island, Peace, Hide, Play, Sleep, Bone, Planet, Loyal, Fur, Alone
I'll use a randomizer to select the word for the top of the next hour (5pm here). I have some ideas for each word, but there are LOTS of ways to interpret these words, and Even just in my tbr shelves I could make a whole stack for each word easily. This could be fun. I'll try to post the selected word 5 minutes before each hour starts.
The randomizer wheel chose PEACE for the first hour of this game. (I used https://pickerwheel.com/ for this game, btw.)

My book for this hour is still American Pastoral, because the main characters include a family that makes their fortune manufacturing leather goods (hides).

That definitely works. :)
That definitely works. :)

Fun idea though, Jamie
I'm starting over with the same words as yesterday, but this time I'll post the current hour's word and the next hour's word, so that without spending too long deciding what to read we get a little longer to pick the next book.
My list of keywords is : Rice, Cook, Hot, Strand, Proud, Wet, Island, Peace, Hide, Play, Sleep, Bone, Planet, Loyal, Fur, Alone
Sprint 1: (1pm MountainTime) - HIDE
Sprint 2: (2pm MountainTime) - HOT
Sprint 3: (3pm MT) - PROUD
Sprint 4: (4pm MT) - BONE
Sprint 5: (5pm MT) - STRAND
Sprint 6: (6pm MT) - PLAY
Sprint 7: (7pm MT) - ISLAND
Sprint 8 (8pm MT) - FUR
Sprint 9 (9pm MT) - SLEEP
The remaining 7 words will be the ones that make up the possible keywords for our 7 official schedules sprints during the readathon.

My book for HIDE is American Pastoral, which still has a lot of trivia mixed in about tanning hides and leatherwork..
My book for HOT is Pleasure (By: Gabriele D'Annunzio) published: December, 2013 , which may be hot and steamy, though I have my doubts.

Life happened . And you were forced to put the books down . Don't worry about . Hope to hear from you this Saturday evening .

Thanks for the reminder Jamie .

Yeah, the Caesars are pretty overwhelmingly proud too, so I took a break after the first one and never got back to it, months ago. I did make a bit of progress though today, and may get further by the end of the readathon now that I've resumed reading it finally.

Our word for this hour is BONE, and my book for this one has been on tbrs of mine for years, quite literally - The White Bone. I think it is about elephants.
Our word for the next one will be STRAND.
Our word for the next one will be STRAND.
Our current word is STRAND, for which I am still reading Red Threads: A Novel.
Our next word will be PLAY.
I'll do a couple more hours tonight, and the remaining 7 words will be the ones I'll choose by the same randomizer starting tomorrow for our readathon scheduled sprints.

I just realized that I am not prepped like that, forgot still have to make my planned dinner tonight, but at least it's an easy casserole to throw together. My new living room lamp did not come in yet, probably will be tomorrow or Sunday, but think since my son is going to work that a lot of my evening reading will be on the living room couch with ambience vids, a bath possibly, and maybe some porch if it rains and mugginess calms down.
We will see!
