Hello! I'm so excited I've found this group, I had no idea Goodreads had groups and was happy to do some for us specifically! I'm Tiff, I used to be an avid reader but after depression, college, and grieving my dad's books reading became a chore and was no longer leisure. This year I made it my mission to get back into reading and my second book was Kindred! I watched the show and fell in love and even more so the book! (I'm rewatching the show because I can't part from Dana yet lol).

Does anyone have any recommendations on books similar to Kindred or any sci-fi recommendations in general? This is a genre I have yet to xplore but I'm finding myself enjoying more sci-fi shows so I'm trying to get my feet wet with the books!

Kindred was my initial read by Octavia E. Butler decades ago and the reason I fell in love with her Writing. I would recommend continuing on with her "Parable" series because it literally changed my life! She's a Phenomenal Author.. Enjoy it All 🩷

Welcome to the group! I’m pretty new myself. I would highly recommend fifth season by n k jemisin. I think it may be considered more of a sci-fi / fantasy apocalyptic novel but it’s honestly brilliant.

Welcome to the group. I highly recommend anything by N.K. Jemison. If you want to read sci-fi mixed with romance. Thea Dane has a series. There are several African sci fi authors also.

@Tiffany Russell, I just saw a novel called, "When the Reckoning Comes" by LaTanya McQueen. It seems be be similar to Kindred.
