Tell us if you love the Hobbit. It's a great fantasy book, prequel to Lord of the Rings but some people just don't like it. Too childish, they say. Well, DUH! Tolkien wrote it for his son!

Saya ke KLCC beberapa hari yang lepas. Walaupun berjanji pada diri sendiri untuk tidak membeli buku sampai habis baca buku to-read, namun di saat kaki memijak lantai Kinokuniya, hati berdebar-debar.

Bila sudah ada debaran begitu, jangan mimpilah untuk tidak membeli. Akhirnya 'tersangkut' juga beberapa buah:

3 - Everyone Poops ---> Ini untuk anak-anak saya. hehehehe..Umur2 toddler memang semacam ada obsessi pada poop. Serius tak tipu.

Nurul, The Hobbit: Or There and Back Again is BRILLIANT :D

Secangkir Teh Pengubat Letih (STPL), Murabbi Cinta, Dua Hati Satu Rasa, I Love U Too, dan 2 buah buku kanak-kanak terbitan Kharisma dan Pelangi.

Tetapi semua buku ini dihadiahkan kepada kawan-kawan sempena perkahwinan mereka. STPL untuk hari lahir adik, dan 2 buah buku kanak-kanak itu pun untuk anak-anak sepupu yang menyambut hari lahir pada bulan Jun.

Untuk diri sendiri? Erm..

Semalam saya dah selamat membeli Sherlock holmes : Vol 1 for RM160, satisfying the detective persona in me. Vol II and III saved for the next month. I will do enough OT this month to cover for that (TT)This is the most expensive book i have purchased so far and my housemates really made a fuss about it. "satu buku ni seratus enam puluhhh??" said them with those unbelievable face. "takde..ni biasa je ni..ada lagi yang lagi gila gila ulat buku" i defended myself, remembering kak Najibah and her purchase of RM400 something for a book..huhu

Saya dah baca Oliver Twist dan David Copperfield tiga tahun lepas. Beli ni untuk buat koleksi. Saya suka classics tapi susah nak jumpa di Malaysia. Saya pernah jumpa The Tales of Two Cities harga RM60. Di sini, classics boleh tahan murah. $7 pun dah boleh dapat (lebih-kurang RM21).

Sempat ke KL Alternative Book Fair pada hari Sabtu lepas dan beli buku terbaru Hishamuddin Rais yang bertajuk 'Tapai : Travels and Guilty Pleasures of a Fermented Malaysian'. Dapat otograf dia pun. Woohoo! Untuk minda-minda matang sahaja. ;)

We spent RM 200++ at bookxcess last Saturday.

I bought Mirrormask by Neil Gaiman and Going Postal by Terry Pratcher.

Saya memang kurang gemarkan chic-lite. Lagi saya benci adalah romance. Tapi saya suka juga baca Shopaholic Series oleh Sophie Kinsella. Belum baca semua tapi so far saya paling suka Shopaholic and Baby. Kelakar. Tapi selain Shopaholic series, saya tak ambil pusing sangat fasal karya Kinsella.

Bagi saya, bahasa kurang penting tapi gaya penceritaan dan plot. Orang kata novel klasik susah, tapi saya rasa tak semua macam tu. Saya paling suka tulisan Charles Dickens. Saya tak berapa kejar sangat novel baharu sebab selama ni, saya baca buku yang banyak fakta (seperti ensiklopedia XD)

(3) Fahrenheit 451 - cari punya cari, perpustakaan yang ada lebih setengah juta bahan, belum sempat membeli buku ni - jawabnya, beli sendiri dulu (Kemudian derma pada perpustakaan? Akan difikir-fikirkan)

najibah, samalah :). sekarang ni saya book swap dengan rakan. kebanyakan novel bahasa inggeris yang dibaca, sama ada saya beli di bookxcess/book swap/download e-book

novel classic bagi sy mmg susah nk go, but doable.. i only read a couple:[book:The Great God Pan dn Shadows of Death. i refer to my dictionary every single paragraph, but eventually i went tired since it was too many, stopped doing so and just assume the general meaning of its context. I wondered if all classics are like that..

God knows how would i finished this tiny-font-1200-pages tomb!

How to finish LOTR:

1) skip the part when they meet Tom Bombadil. Trust me, Tom is a redundant character who doesn't contribute anything to the story.

2) skip all the songs, ballads, pantun, joget lambak, boria. There are lots of them. Those hobbits love to sing.

3) go watch the movie on dvd. Then come back and read the book again.

Be aware however that this advice comes from someone who never managed to finish the book himself. But I did try. Oh God, how I tried.

How true. Exactly what i did and finished the series twice.
