Ya, tu la saya suka DCB. Buku2 agamanya dlm BI dan saya suka baca dlm BI sbb straight to the point. Buku di DCB diimpot dari Arab Saudi. Sebab tu kebanyakkan buku buku mereka diterbit oleh penerbit Arab. Apa ke nama? Darusalam?
Baru tau.
Lokasi tak bagus, promosi pun takde. Apa la..

Went to Book Xcess in the afternoon and bought a copy of Conrad's Fate (Diana Wynne Jones). I abandoned the Chrestomanci Series for almost 10 years and it's time to close the loop. The other book I haven't read is The Pinhoe Egg.
I also read The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories by Tim Burton while hanging out in Kino yesterday. A definite must-read, it's full of subtle teenage angst just like Burton's movies.

Yes, I also googled the books that I wanted and found the online portal. I've been buying Islamic books written in English while performing umrah (both times and hajj). Unfortunately, back in 1996, it was almost impossible to find the books in Malaysia. Luckily, after I performed Hajj last year, I googled and found about DCB! Yeay!
I kinda like the books written by scholars there, because it provide the arguments and grade the hadith used in their arguments. Yup, most of the books are published by Darussalam. But Al Quran & Sunnah Publishing pun OK. I like Muhammad al Jibaly's writings!
Kalau baca buku agama Melayu, tak banyak penulis yang akan grade whether the hadith is authentic/daif etc etc. But Muslims in Malaysia ni agaknya, tak dapat nak comprehend different opinions of scholars, unfortunately resulting Muslims bickering in small issues such as whether it's OK to recite qunut/not during Subuh prayer. Lepas tu (maaf cakap), banyak buku Islam yang ditulis dalam bahasa Melayu, nak jadi isteri/wanita solehah selalunya kalau baca, sukar sangat nak jadi isteri solehah *sigh* Susahnya nak jadi wanita solehah yang perfect serba serbi! Pandai masak, pandai jahit, pandai jaga anak plus kena kerja pula tu.
DCB ni agaknya baru lagi in operation. Surprisingly went I went there, somebody wanted to order a volume of books and the cashier (the lady wearing purdah) told them, the books will arrive next week. Agaknya selalulah tu shipment sampai.

Ntah kat mana...belah-belah kilang Colgate tu agaknya. Dekat le dgn kedai.
Kalau nak contact email, tak usah masuk website DCB. Macam Bunnybaby cakap, sitenya tak sempurna. Lebih baik masuk Facebook. DCB ada page dlm FB. Lebih senang tinggalkan pesanan melalui FB.

Well? Don't just stop there. Tell us how, you naughty cat, you!
Hacked machine, huh? Like what they did with the iPhone before Maxis bought the M'sian license. It's legal to use but not covered when something goes wrong.
I'll just wait for when it becomes legit. No big deal. I still love reading words on paper. I'm old fashioned like that.

2. Kafe (Lutfi Ishak)- a poetry collection
3. Gerhana (MF Kencana dan Nissa' Yusof) - a sci-fi novel
1. History of Philosophy (Julian Marias) - dapat RM60 yg rasanya sangat murah utk buku seperti ini.

The Kindle works just fine if you register it under a valid States address. You can make a purchase on Amazon without any problem even using Malaysian credit card. The e-ink screen is just awesome.

I want to read about teenage angst but is it just me or the YA genre is truly flooded with freaking teen version of chick lit????

Yes. Also flooded with vampires because they're 'in' right now.
Wait a minute, Sylvia Plath wrote YA books??

On the other note, just acquired Changing My Mind: Occasional Essays by Zadie Smith.
I screamed "nak, nak!" in Kino when I flipped the table of content and saw that the first essay is on Their Eyes Were Watching God, a book by Zora Neale Hurston that I was introduced to in Women in Literature class.

Memang kedai buku kat situ berhantu. Tak ramai yang sedar. Macam mana tak sedar, kalau dah melangkah masuk saja, hantu tu terus merasuk kita.
Sebab itu langkah terbaik adalah jangan pergi. Jangan.
1. The Alchemist
2. A Case of Exploding Mangoes
3. Curiosities of Literature: A Book-lover's Anthology of Literary Erudition
4. The God of Small Things
