Abigail Bok (regency_reader) | 416 comments This section has some very lyrical descriptions of places redolent of myth in Britain. Both Ynis Witrin and Caer Camel are based on real places in Somerset.

Ynis Witrin, the Isle of Glass, is Glastonbury Tor: https://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryMa....

Caer Camel/Camelot is Castle Cadbury: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadbury....

Would be fun to take a Merlinian pilgrimage around Great Britain sometime! I have seen many of the places she mentions but far from all.

Linda Martin (lindajm) I've never been to Great Britain - or any foreign country really, except Canada. However I have a great imagination and love to research novel locations while I'm reading. Thanks for the links.

I'm almost to the end of Book Two. I really prefer her romantic suspense novels, but this one isn't too bad.

I wanted to learn more about Mary Stewart's development as an author over the years she wrote novels, and I think I'm achieving that goal.

This novel is showing me how much she loved the Arthurian legends. She wanted to breathe life into them, and did that well.

Considering how participation in this group has dropped off, I think you’re not alone in preferring the romantic thrillers.
