Liralen | 8223 comments It looks like this book is not actually a box set but somehow an ASIN that links to a series page on Amazon. Is it something to NAB, or am I missing something?

Thanks!

annob [on hiatus] (annob) | 4048 comments Good catch, yes an ASIN that corresponds to an Amazon series page is not a valid book record and should be marked Invalid (NABed).

Before the new status system, they were merged into either a valid box set or book 1 in the series, but the rules have changed and they should no longer be merged. Can't find the rule announcement about this recent change, but maybe someone else remember where it was posted?

As for the rule that says such ASINs are not valid, here's the text in the Librarian Manual that I was taught by other Librarians apply to these series ASINs. (They are just a page that makes it easier to download several books/items with one click.)

"If a book series is not packaged by the publisher as one item (such as a boxed set), the series should not be created as a fake book."

Liralen | 8223 comments Thanks! Marked as invalid.

I'm used to ASINs for sets of books that resellers are bundling together, but I hadn't seen this particular quirk before.
