Hello team!

Your spreadsheet, Round 1 tab, has been updated with your first three characters: Queen Grimhilde, Mother Gothel & Lady Tremaine! Please remember that the challenge begins on 9/1 and that you only need to finish 4 tasks (out of the 8) before getting a new character.


FYI - this will be what the colors mean for the same round.
Light Pink will be a new character.
Light Purple will be when you complete the first 4 out of 8 tasks.
Dark Pink will be the new character you have but need to complete the remaining 4 tasks.
Dark Purple will be a fully completed character.

I can as long as it has the audio too. My main way of reading lately is audiobooks.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask: would people mind just claiming prompts when they are nearly finished with a book? I am finding it hard to fit books for the current villains... (And we seem to take very long to finish characters...)

Also another suggestion: we are unlikely to be given the same character twice (Alaina gives characters twice only once all characters have been given once), so all people who have claimed the fifth prompt in Mother Gothel and Lady Tremaine could try to claim a different prompt for a different character to make sure we can actually use their book...

Sorry, I just think these suggestions (especially the second suggestion) would maximise our points...

Feel free to disagree, I don't want to be bossy or anything...

Hi Shia! No, I meant claiming a prompt only once we are finished or nearly finished witg the book, and not before. I don't claim prompts untill I have reviewed books, either.
However, there seem to be a lot of currently reading books that fill prompts incthe spreadsheet, and I think we might finish characters faster if spots were only taken after book were already finished, or very nearly before that...

Again, just my thoughts...

We should probably use the banked books sheet....instead of filling books in the sheet and letting them sit. Only one person is banking books- we all should. I'm also not trying to be bossy, just a suggestion...

the reason I haven't been using the banked books tab is because I am placing them on upcoming characters. i have two books I put in last night, and they will be done and posted by tomorrow. i try and pick books based on the tasks and not try and fit a book I read into a task if that makes sense? i know some categories are harder to fill, such as the mute character, which is why I picked it for that task specifically

I understand... Just note, though, that we might not get to all the characters... And there might be cases where we finish a character before the prompt gets used (if other people claim and finish 4 other prompts) - in that case it would be best to use the book for a different prompt, because we are unlikely to get repeat characters...

Maybe be prepared to move a book is all I'm saying.

I don't think claiming prompts from characters we have not been given yet is what is slowing us down at the moment.

We could use the chat to let each other know how long we think we might take for prompts maybe?

Andy, not sure if this is what you mean but, what I am having trouble with is when people put a book into a category on the spreadsheet but they haven’t completed the book yet. So Alaina can’t close the character out. Even though it looks like there are 4 categories done they are not all checked off as complete.

It would be easier if people only put a book in the spreadsheet itself when the book is completed. That way the categories are open for those with completed books. Multiple times I have looked at the review page at what Alaina has crossed out, I see a category that works, put my review in and then go to the spreadsheet…only to see someone has put their book into that category but hasn’t completed it yet.

Sorry, maybe this is how the challenges run now but in the past this has never happened. So if this is supposed to be ok then please tell me. :)

Yes, that's what I'm trying to say! :)
That's why I was suggesting to only claim a caregory when finished or nearly finished.

Yeah, I'm going to agree with Andy here. I'm sorry I've been a little MIA, but I'm currently trying to put like 10 books on the spreadsheet, but since all the spots for the current characters are "claimed" I can't really use those to finish the character.

I agree of putting your books in AFTER you finish them, otherwise we’re stuck waiting on the members who took prompts and are waiting to finish. We can’t finish that way.

I’ve logged all my books finished so far and banked.

Namaari is finished and if Catsalive you want to post your read one for Gaston we will be finished with that character. I'll look to see if I have anything to finish Lady Tremaine

I just finished Sorcery of Thorns - I am pretty sure there must be "deal" in text somewhere, but I only seem to find "bargain" or other synonyms. If anyone knows if there is "deal" in text in it, I will post it!

In the meantime I have 2 books and I cannot fit them anywhere useful... Ah! :P

Put them in the banked section and we will put them in when we can.

Also I was waiting to post to see if they would fit better in the new character because we don’t have Ursula close to done anyways.
