An English Bride in Scotland (Highland Brides, #1) by Lynsay Sands
An English Bride in Scotland by Lynsay Sands

Synopsis:

The first in a historical series set in the Highlands of Scotland, from Lynsay Sands, the New York Times bestselling author of the Argeneau vampire series and countless historical romances.

Annabel was about to take the veil to become a nun when her mother suddenly arrives at the Abbey to take her home… so that she can marry the Scottish laird who is betrothed to her runaway sister! She knows nothing about being a wife, nothing about how to run a household, and definitely nothing about the marriage bed!

But from the moment Ross MacKay sets eyes on Annabel, he is taken with his shy sweet bride… and the fact that she's blessed with lush curves only makes him utter his own prayers of thanks. But when an enemy endangers her life, he'll move the Highlands themselves to save her. For though Annabel's not the bride he planned for, she's the only woman he desires…

Lauren | 1395 comments The second book is my favorite. TO, enjoy this book you need to just go with it

Mariana | 2692 comments I have read all 11 books in the series. This and book 9 were my two favorites. I will go ahead and start my reread of this one tonight. Anyone else planning to read this?

Oleander | 268 comments I just finished. I really liked it. Annabel and Ross were a great couple. The storyline was good with an air of mystery to it. Who was after Annabel and why? It was a little odd how they got walked in on in almost all their intimate moments. It was a fun read.

Mariana | 2692 comments I am halfway through reading this again and enjoying just as much the second time around. It's entertaining, funny, sexy, mysterious; and I like both Annabel and Ross. They are both so genuine.

Emily (ylime620) | 2 comments I just finished the series and it got me sucked into the TV series of Outlander. These were definitely more fun than the Outlander books!
I really enjoyed how formulaic they were honestly. The story beats were all similar in a good way. I loved books 6 The Highlander's Promise and 11: In Her Highlander's Bed
It's also worth going back to her earlier Highland seriesDevil of the Highlands

Oh gosh, y'all I'm new to the group and I just realized this thread is supposed to be only about the first one. Regardless, my comment still stands. I listened to most of the books in audio and I really enjoyed the narration for most of them.

I loved Annabel. It was very interesting to hear her talk about how bad of a nun she made. She sounded a lot like Maria in the Sound of Music that way.

I agree. I loved the chemistry b/w Ross & Annabel.
Lots of humor throughout which had me chuckling out loud the first time I read it.
When she keeps referring to 'her sisters' and they think it's her siblings...classic!
and how awful were her parents? and her sister! you hope she got what she deserved in the end.

agree! I'm a fan of lynsay sands. I enjoy her socttish highlander historical romances. I like that she has charming characters, good stories but love that she includes humor. I find there's always an LOL moment in each of her books.

Petra | 143 comments I just realized, I’ve never read a book by Lynsay Sands even though I’ve seen her name everywhere. I’m going to give this a go.
